    Italy 0-2 Spain

The Spain fans are getting the oles out for every pass. It's going to be a long evening now for these Italy players.

  2. Postpublished at 52 mins

    Italy 0-2 Spain

You fear for Italy that this half is going to be death by a thousand passes now.

  3. Postpublished at 52 mins

    Italy 0-2 Spain

This is Italy's problem now. Even when they break the press of Spain, they don't have the numbers they need to hurt the visitors in attack. Jorginho breaks through and looks up to see... nobody.

  4. Postpublished at 51 mins

    Italy 0-2 Spain

Yeah, Ferran Torres is getting some treatment now off the pitch. Spain will be hoping that isn't serious. As will Manchester City.

  5. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 49 mins

    Italy 0-2 Spain

This must be a bit of an injury. He was certainly grimacing. Ferran Torres won't get his hat-trick as he is replaced by Yeremi Pino.

    Italy 0-2 Spain

Gavi gets some retribution for Torres by smashing into Jorginho.

  7. Postpublished at 48 mins

    Italy 0-2 Spain

Jorginho welcomes Ferran Torres back to the game by clattering him and sending him spinning to the turf.

The Man City man with the last laugh as it stands, though.

    Patrick in Glasgow

Yeah, after being elbowed in the face...

    Italy 0-2 Spain

Ferran Torres is now level with Erling Braut Haaland as the leading scorer in this Nations League. They both have six.

Yeah, I'd say he was a striker now.

    Italy 0-2 Spain

    We go again.

I'd snap your hand off for another 45 minutes like the first.

Unsurprisingly, Italy have sent on Giorgio Chiellini to be the main man at the back. Forward Federico Bernardeschi is the man withdrawn.

Young lad has done well too, eh?

  12. Postpublished at 20:43 British Summer Time 6 October 2021

    Italy 0-2 Spain

Even when it was still 11v11, Spain were the better side here.

They've been more composed, more compact and ruthless when it mattered. They've picked off the European champions.

Italy haven't helped themselves by missing big chances, booing their own keeper and losing their discipline at a key moment.

  13. HALF-TIMEpublished at 45+2 mins

    Italy 0-2 Spain

The goal is pretty much the last act of the half.

Spain in total control against a 10-man Italy stripped of their captain and defensive lynchpin Leonardo Bonucci.

Italy haven't lost in 37 matches and have never lost at the San Siro. I think that's about to change.

    Ferran Torres

    It's Ferran again!

Spain ruthlessly pick apart the 10 men as Mikel Oyarzabal's lovely chipped cross is superbly headed back across goal and in by Torres.

They've timed it perfectly. They're speeding away into the distance.

And now Cesar Azpilicueta is in the book for body checking Emerson. It's a proper semi-final this.

  16. Postpublished at 44 mins

    Italy 0-1 Spain

Spain will never have a better chance to win in Italy now.

This game had edge from the off. A red card was always in the offing.

  17. RED CARD FOR ITALYpublished at 42 mins

    Italy 0-1 Spain

Italy down to 10 men! And it is a key man gone too!

Leonardo Bonucci has already been booked for talking back to the ref. He adds to that by leading with his arm in an aerial challenge with Sergio Busquets and catching him with an elbow.

The Italians swarm the ref but it's a second yellow, followed by red.

More whistles and boos for Gianluigi Donnarumma under pressure from Ferran Torres. That's not going to help. He just about gets his pass away.

  19. Postpublished at 39 mins

    Italy 0-1 Spain

It's a fascinating game to watch. Just as it was at Euro 2020. Two teams with differing styles, going toe to toe.

  20. Postpublished at 20:27 British Summer Time 6 October 2021

    Italy 0-1 Spain

    End-to-end!

Italy are committed and Spain break into the spaces.

Pablo Sarabia has the ball on the left side of the box and opts for a low shot that Gianluigi Donnarumma saves. Should have crossed to a better placed team-mate.
