Italy are in again, this time to fashion the best chance of the game - even more than the one for Spain's goal.

A cross into the mixer is perfect for Lorenzo Insigne, but somehow he conspires to side-foot wide of the target from 12 yards out with just Unai Simon to beat.

Unai Simon comes to Spain's rescue, pushing an angled shot from Federico Bernardeschi on to the base of his post.

Italy are getting in now.

Almost a neat attacking move from Italy. Marcos Alonso spots the danger to prevent the home side breaking through the press and into clear space in front of Unai Simon's goal.

It has some spice to this. Bit niggly, occasionally threatening to turn nasty. I love it.

Italy take the free-kick neatly into the feet of Nicolo Barella in the box but the 17-year-old senses the danger to get in between man and ball and draw a foul from his opponent.

Referee Sergey Karasev isn't winning friends with the home team. Gavi commits a foul as Italy press high up. The ball breaks to a man in blue but the ref stops play when advantage was there to be played.

It's a free-kick, though. One Italy can try and make something from.

Giovanni Di Lorenzo meets the low corner at the near post but can only glance his header past the upright. Got too much on it.

Better from the home side as they look to get Marco Verratti in down the left. Gavi has tracked him the whole way and concedes a corner.

Verratti isn't happy. Does he want a penalty? He won't get one.

The goal was off Ferran Torres' shin. Maybe a bit of luck then. Either that, or he simply is that good. I wouldn't put it past him.

Gavi cares not for reputations. He sticks a boot in on Marco Verratti and is penalised for a foul in the centre circle.

These Italian fans aren't used to getting beat. There is some frustration already from the stands. They sense, as well they might, that this Spain are a serious threat to that unbeaten run.

We've already seen Spain pile into quite a few penalised challenges. They're not here to lie down. Cesar Azpilicueta is the latest, knacking Chelsea team-mate Emerson.

Brilliant move from Spain and it nearly brings the opener.

They open Italy up down the left, with Pablo Sarabia finding acres of space in the box to collect and cross low for Marcos Alonso to have a shot that is blocked by Alessandro Bastoni.

They shifted the Italy defence around at will there. Not an easy task.
