But Gareth Ainsworth and his leather jacket will need to pull off a masterstroke this evening to keep their Great Escape alive as they make the relatively short trip to face Watford at Vicarage Road.
The Hornets can go level on points with second-placed Brentford this evening if results go their way and will be desperate to bounce back from Saturday's defeat by fellow promotion contenders Bournemouth on Saturday.
QPR v Barnsley (19:00 GMT)
Five wins from five and seven games unbeaten have propelled Barnsley to within touching distance of the play-off places in a season where they have defied expectations and the sudden loss of a manager.
Valerien Ismael has had them purring in recent weeks, including ending Brentford's incredible unbeaten run in spectacular style and running Chelsea close in the FA Cup.
Tonight, they're in west London once again to face QPR who are this season's dictionary definition of inconsistency.

Play-off chasers Barnsley have made two changes from the weekend's 2-1 victory against Millwall, with Toby Sibbick and Conor Chaplin replacing Michael Sollbauer and Carlton Morris.
