Forest's corner sadly failed to find a red shirt as Daniel Bachmann punched it clear.

So it's Adam Mesina's strike midway through the first half that separates these two teams at the break.

League One and League Two update

We have two other games going on at the moment, one in League One and the other in League Two.

In League One, Paul Cook's first game in the dugout as Ipswich Town boss could not have got off to a worse start as they trail at Gillingham courtesy of Jack Turner's strike.

In League Two, Exeter could not have started better against Jobi McAnuff's Leyton Orient. A measured finish from Joel Randall and Matt Jay's strike, which was fumbled in by the O's keeper, sees the Grecians lead 2-0.

Final ball justnot quite there for both sides as they try and thread it behind the defences.

Watford well organised at the back with numbers behind the ball as Cyrus Christie looked for a way to play Filip Krovinovic in.

    Watford 1-0 Nottingham Forest

Bit of a wasted corner for Watford in the end after a lot of messing around by Anthony Knockaert, who seemed reluctant to get 10 yards away from the taker.

Eventually resolved itself and came to nothing. Meawhile, Luke Freeman just strays a bit too far forward in his bid to beat Watford's offside trap at the other end.

    Watford 1-0 Nottingham Forest

Watford desperately appealing for handball as Joe Worrall has to slide across and block Ismaila Sarr's cross.

Just a corner for the hosts despite the protests.

    Watford 1-0 Nottingham Forest

Daniel Bachmann in Watford's goal has had a very quiet afternoon so far.

The first action of note for him is to gather a stray cross from the left by Gaetan Bong.

Forest still searching for a bit of cohesion coming forward.

    Watford 1-0 Nottingham Forest

Forest with a half-sight of goal as Filip Krovinovic tries his luck from outside the area on his left.

Just bounces back off the turf a bit more than he expected and goes high and wide into the stand behind.

    Watford 1-0 Nottingham Forest

Joao Pedro peels away from his man to find space for a half-volley from a neatly-taken short corner.

Can't keep his right-foot effort under the bar though but Watford continuing to look threatening for more goals.

Jason Mills: Instead of Murray, Forest should have tried to sign Woods and Tyrese Campbell from Stoke. Front two of trees and woods for Forest!!

Geoff Naylor: Forest have been underperforming for years and Hughton's side displays the typical characteristics of beating the best away and then losing at home to the relegation candidates.

  17. Postpublished at 26 mins

    Watford 1-0 Nottingham Forest

Ken Sema protests for a corner for Watford but Jon Moss awards a goal kick.

It was pretty clear to see on the replay that he knocked the ball out of play over the rest of the byline!

At the other end, Cyrus Christie sends a dangerous cross in from the right across the six-yard box, but Glenn Murray is nowhere to be seen in the middle for Forest.

    Quote Message

If Glenn Murray had been gambling in behind, then I think Forest would have been level.

Brice Samba back on his feet and ready for the restart after he took a knock in the melee during that opening goal.

Jon Moss comes over to have a word with Gaetan Bong after he wrestles Ismaila Sarr to the ground.

Tough few minutes for the former Brighton full-back.

Watford ahead as Adam Masina drills a left-footed shot through a number of legs, including Forest goalkeeper Brice Samba's for his first goal in more than a year.

It comes after Forest failed to fully clear an initial cross in from the right by Ismaila Sarr after he had nut-megged Gaetan Bong.

Nobody reacted quick enough to pounce on the loose ball after Samba could only parry it away from goal.

    Watford 0-0 Nottingham Forest

Watford win a corner after Ismaila Sarr's attempted header skews wide.

The hosts looking threatening now on the break and Kiko Femenia certainly finding space wide out on the right.

But his attempt at a long-ranger as the corner is half-cleared goes well wide of Brice Samba's goal.
