  1. Premier League planning for fans this seasonpublished at 22:37 Greenwich Mean Time 12 March 2021

Some positive news to bring you before we bring things to a close.

The Premier League plans to have fans in grounds at the final two rounds of matches this season, according to chief executive Richard Masters.

Up to 10,000 supporters will be allowed into stadiums from Monday, 17 May provided the government is able to stick to its scheduled roadmap.

To maintain a competitive balance and ensure all 20 clubs get to play a home game with fans present, a round of fixtures will be shifted to 18-20 May.

You can read more about that here.

  3. 'Chance to go above the champions should have been enough'published at 22:26 Greenwich Mean Time 12 March 2021

    Newcastle 1-1 Aston Villa

    Aston Villa

Aston Villa manager Dean Smith speaking to BT Sport: "When you're a goal up with four minutes to go you're disappointed naturally.

"We didn't deserve to win the game. It wasn't a game for the purists, I thought it was a bit of an ugly game. They probably had the best chances but we should see it out.

"We could have gone and got a goal to make it 2-0 with the counter-attacking opportunities we had but we didn't make the most of the opportunities and it allows them to stick a ball into the box.

"It's always a concern when you're not creating chances. Tonight it was a very scrappy game. We've got good enough players to go and score goals, we have a few short of confidence but that seems to be the league at the moment."

On losing Bertrand Traore early on: "He has a whack on the hip and the ribs, it was a blow to lose his creativity. I thought we started well and it probably shook us when he went off.

"We had an opportunity to go above the champions and that should have been enough for the players to go and get a result today."

  4. 'I'm convinced we'll be OK'published at 22:18 Greenwich Mean Time 12 March 2021

    Newcastle 1-1 Aston Villa

    Newcastle United

Newcastle manager Steve Bruce, speaking to BT Sport: "There wasn't much in the game. Arguably we had the best chances but the goal they scored was a bit of a fluke. Then you have to show desire to get back into it and we did that. We at least deserved that.

"Joelinton has come in for criticism but he's contributed to the team today. He needs to score a goal and be the hero and I'm sure there's a goal or two around the corner.

"There are still 10 games to go. We're unbeaten in our last couple. We've got to show the same attitude and hopefully big players are back around the corner. That gives us something to focus on and I'm still convinced we'll be OK.

"There is no question managing Newcastle is always difficult. There's a huge spotlight and that's the way it should be. I'm ready for the challenge and my experience I hope will prove vital."

Newcastle have now won just two of their last 17 Premier League matches.

They've drawn three in a row for the first time since August 2011.

How are you feeling after that, Newcastle fans?

Jon Evans: Obviously Grealish is a big loss, but I can't help but feel that Luiz's and McGinn's game has dropped massively since the new year. They just aren't offering anything currently and that was happening before Grealish was out. Just look tired.

    FT: Newcastle 1-1 Aston Villa

A hugely frustrating outcome for Aston Villa in the end. That late equaliser prevents them from moving above Liverpool and they could find themselves cut adrift in the race for a European place this weekend.

It's only the third time in Premier League history that a team has scored first in an away game as late as the 86th minute and not gone on to win.

The point does, however, leave Newcastle 16th and two points above Fulham in the final relegation place, having now played the same number of games.

This weekend, Brighton, in 17th, travel to Southampton, while Fulham host Manchester City.
