  1. Postpublished at 20 mins

    Real Madrid 0-0 Eibar

Bryan Gil has looked promising for Eibar so far.

He's only 20, and on loan from Sevilla, but has shown glimpses of real quality so far.

He controls a long ball brilliantly, but goes down softly under a tackle from Nacho.

  2. Postpublished at 16 mins

    Real Madrid 0-0 Eibar

    Chance for the visitors.

They win a corner after good play from Kike Garcia and Bryan Gil. It is whipped in by former Manchester City man Aleix Garcia, but is header wide by Sergio Álvarez at the back post.

  3. Postpublished at 13 mins

    Real Madrid 0-0 Eibar

It has been all Real Madrid so far really, but Eibar are pressing really high, trying to win the ball back when they can.

  4. PENALTY APPEALpublished at 10 mins

    Real Madrid 0-0 Eibar

Marcelo looks a real outlet for Madrid on the left at the moment.

He once again just gets the ball out of his feet and whips a cross in. Defensive midfielder Casemiro is coming in at the back post, and he goes down under some pressure, but the referee waves away a few half-hearted appeals from the Madrid players.

    VAR agrees.

  5. Postpublished at 9 mins

    Real Madrid 0-0 Eibar

Today is Zinedine Zidane's 250th game in charge of Real Madrid, over the two spells.

He's won 164, drawn 50, and lost just 35 of the previous 249.

He's won two La Liga titles, and three Champions League trophies. Not bad.

  6. DISALLOWED GOALpublished at 5 mins

    Real Madrid 0-0 Eibar

This game has been relentless so far!

Karim Benzema is lurking at the back post and heads home a beautiful cross from Marcelo but he's a good couple of yards offside.

  7. GREAT SAVE!published at 4 mins

    Real Madrid 0-0 Eibar

What are Eibar, and Alejandro Pozo, doing?

Pozo looks to pass back towards his keeper, but Karim Benzema is sniffing and he intercepts. He's left one-on-one with Marko Dmitrovic but the keeper does well to block as the striker looks to go around him. Good save.

Marco Asensio was free in the middle. Should he have squared it?

  8. CLOSE!published at 3 mins

    Real Madrid 0-0 Eibar

    Good start frm Eibar.

They press high, and the ball falls to Pape Diop who sees a drive from 22 yards comfortably pushed away by Thibaut Courtois.

  9. Postpublished at 2 mins

    Real Madrid 0-0 Eibar

As expected Real have lined up with three at the back in Nacho, Eder Militao and Ferland Mendy. Marcelo and Lucas Vazquez are playing as wing backs.

Madrid have played three at the back at times this season, but not that regularly. Is Zidane thinking about Liverpool on Tuesday?

    Eibar get us underway.

  11. Postpublished at 15:12 British Summer Time 3 April 2021

We're almost ready to go. The players are making their way out onto the pitch.

Real are still playing at the Alfredo Di Stéfano stadium, where the reserve team play, rather than the Bernabeu by the way.

  12. What about Eibar?published at 15:08 British Summer Time 3 April 2021

Real Madrid v Eibar (15:15 BST)

    Good question.

They are currently second bottom, two points adrift of safety.

Sounds retrievable, right? It does, until you learn they haven't won in the league since 3 January.

Since that game they have played 11 games in the league, and picked up four points.

Their form is going to have to drastically improve soon, or their seven-year stay in Spain's top-flight might be coming to an end.

  13. What is the state of play in the title race?published at 15:05 British Summer Time 3 April 2021

Real Madrid v Eibar (15:15 BST)

Real Madrid are currently third in the three-team battle for the La Liga title.

They are unbeaten in the league since losing at home to Levante on 30 January, but may have to win their remaining 10 games to win a 35th top-flight Spanish title.

Atletico are at Sevilla tomorrow, and Barcelona host Real Valladolid on Monday so Real have the opportunity to go second and close the gap to three points this afternoon.

Zinedine Zidane's side host Barcelona in El Clasico next Saturday too. That could be tasty.

Real Madrid v Eibar (15:15 BST)

Real Madrid have made four changes from their 3-1 win at Celta Vigo before the international break.

Raphael Varane, Federico Valverde, Toni Kroos and Vinicius Junior all drop out, with Éder Militao, Marcelo - who captains the side - Marco Asensio and Isco coming in.

One eye on the Champions League quarter-final first leg against Liverpool on Tuesday perhaps from Zinedine Zidane.

Real Madrid v Eibar (15:15 BST)

We've made it past that damn two-week international break, and we're back with juicy domestic stuff for the rest of the season now.

The Premier League title race looks a foregone conclusion, but in Spain the La Liga title race is a three-way affair between Atletico Madrid, Barcelona and Real Madrid. There are just six points separating the three with 10 games to go.

It should be an absolute humdinger. Strap yourselves in.
