GOAL Celtic 2-0 Falkirkpublished at 58 mins

    Ryan Christie

There wasn't much Robbie Mutch could do about that first goal but the Falkirk keeper is caught napping soon after as a 20-yard strike from Ryan Christie skids in at his near post.

  3. goal

GOAL Celtic 1-0 Falkirkpublished at 56 mins

    James Forrest

James Forrest marks his first start since September with a goal but it owes much to a cruel deflection.

The Celtic winger cuts in from the left to have a pop and it skips off the napper of Lewis Neilson to deceive Robbie Mutch.

  4. Falkirk forced to make a changepublished at 51 mins

    Celtic 0-0 Falkirk

David Turnbull is upended on the edge of the box and Leigh Griffiths makes it clear he is on the free-kick.

  8. Not too much to worry Mutchpublished at 20:29 British Summer Time 3 April 2021

    HT: Celtic 0-0 Falkirk

Celtic have had 21 shots but only three of those have been on target and Falkirk keeper Robbie Mutch hasn't made any special saves.

He did make a good stretching stop to get his hand on a low David Turnbull effort but it was one you'd expect him to make.

    Quote Message

Falkirk are working extremely hard, it's just the possession that's letting them down at the moment. They were very ambitious with their tactics early in the game leaving the two up. They're still in it, they still have an opportunity, but fitness might just take its toll.

  10. Postpublished at 20:24 British Summer Time 3 April 2021

    HT: Celtic 0-0 Falkirk

The possession stats are bordering on ridiculous, with Celtic having an 83% share.

Surely they will find a way through if they keep this up?

Falkirk have been chasing, harrying and blocking with commendable spirit and there will be a lot of tired bodies in the away dressing room.

  11. HALF-TIME Celtic 0-0 Falkirkpublished at 45 mins

Well, it's been incessant pressure from the Scottish Cup holders since kick-off but they have not been able to break down what is a second-string League 1 side.

The half-time whistle comes just as James Forrest fails to divert a Kris Ajer header on target.

It's just not happening for Celtic in front of goal so far.

    Quote Message

When you come to places like Celtic Park one of the most important things is to show the mentality, that composure and belief to play under pressure, and so far Falkirk haven't done that

  13. Postpublished at 40 mins

Kris Ajer is allowed to gallop out of defence but the big Norway international gets his shot all wrong once he gets to the edge of the penalty area.

  14. CLOSE!published at 38 mins

    Celtic 0-0 Falkirk

David Turnbull tries his luck with a deft free-kick from 20 yards. Robbie Mutch is nowhere near it as the ball grazes the roof of the net.

  15. Postpublished at 36 mins

    Celtic 0-0 Falkirk

James Forrest cuts inside this time and his shot is blocked by a defender in front of the keeper.

Celtic keep coming and Kris Ajer is briefly in behind the Falkirk defence but his cross is far too close to Robbie Mutch, who clutches it near his front post.

  16. Postpublished at 34 mins

    Celtic 0-0 Falkirk

James Forrest turns on the afterburners and jets past his man to drill an inviting cross in from the right.

Leigh Griffiths has a swipe but can only scuff a weak effort wide of the target.

  17. Celtic bossing the ballpublished at 30 mins

Half an hour in and Celtic have 81% possession.

But they still haven't found a way through the ranks of dark blue shirts in front of them.

    Celtic 0-0 Falkirk

Leigh Griffiths tumbles as Kai Fotheringham appears to catch his leg as the Celtic striker prepares to shoot.

Loud cries for a penalty are ignored before Diego Laxalt drills one from 20 yards. A comfortable save for Robbie Mutch.
