To borrow a phrase used earlier by my BBC Scotland colleague, Chick Young, there will be an Easter Parade of goals on tonight's Sportscene as it shows highlights from Ibrox along with the best of yesterday's Scottish Cup action.

Former Scotland full-back Alan Hutton and Livingston captain join host Jonathan Sutherland.

Meanwhile, we are back tomorrow evening for that final third-round tie down in Dumfries.

We'll have live action and commentary on the BBC Scotland TV channel, BBC Radio Scotland and online. Join us then to find out if in-form Championship side Queen of the South or top-flight Hibs will fill that final place.

  3. 'Right time' to leave Aberdeen - McInnespublished at 20:55 British Summer Time 4 April 2021

Former Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes has been talking on Premier Sports about his departure from Pittodrie.

"It's a sad time, but for me it was the right time," he says. "I was hoping to get to the end of the season and do it that way. But it's a new era there, I've got to move on from Aberdeen now and they've got to move on from me.

"In between Bristol and Aberdeen, I only had about five weeks, so it would be nice to get some time out and reflect. But, at the same time, if an opportunity comes up, it's hard to resist that.

"I'm really looking forward to the next challenge."

  4. Celtic draw 'a fantastic game'published at 20:53 British Summer Time 4 April 2021

    FT: Rangers 4-0 Cove Rangers

Rangers manager Steven Gerrard tells Premier Sports: "We'd have liked a few more goals, but the boys tried their best. In the main, a very professional job and into the next round we go.

"We want to try and stay unbeaten and there's still a lot to play for. The cup is a priority for us now.

"It's the responsibility that comes with representing this club. The league was fantastic, but we want that to be the start and a catalyst for more.

"We haven't done well in my time here in the cups, so that's something we want to improve on."

Rangers now face city rivals and holders Celtic and Gerrard adds: "It's a big and tough challenge next but one we'll look forward to.

"I think it's a fantastic game for us all to look forward to. Two good teams that will go for it."

  5. Hartley happy to escape with 4-0published at 20:51 British Summer Time 4 April 2021

    FT: Rangers 4-0 Cove Rangers

Cove Rangers manager Paul Hartley laments his side's first-half defending but stressed that "these are probably the best players they will ever play against".

"You hope to come here and try to put on a decent performance and just do the basics well," he tells Premier Sports.

"We did not follow the runners and close the ball down, but we did it better in the second half.

"After the first half, I am probably happy to come away with a 4-0 defeat."

Cove needed Rangers to have an off-day, but they were right at it. Paul Hartley will be proud of his players. The league will always be their main objective. It comes down to that huge disappointment of Masson getting injured

  8. Defoe eyes another trophy - and Ibrox contractpublished at 20:35 British Summer Time 4 April 2021

    FT: Rangers 4-0 Cove Rangers

Rangers goalscorer Jermain Defoe says it is too early to start thinking of the next round against Celtic.

However, he tells Premier Sports: "It's always nice. That's the game that we want. We're looking forward to it."

Defoe's future at Ibrox is under question with his contract ending this summer, but the 38-year-old says: "The guys on front of me have done well and, when the season's finished, we'll see where we are.

"To get the chance to play in front of the fans again would be fantastic. It's my first game in how many months and I felt strong and sharp and I was happy to score that goal. It's hard sitting and watching, but when you get your chance, you've got to take it.

"It was a dream come true to win a league title. It would be great to win a double."

Scott Wright was the standout player. He was sharp, he was lively and he would be the one you're looking at that has probably forced his way into the manager's thoughts.

  11. Hit man Roofe as Rangers eye 34published at 20:26 British Summer Time 4 April 2021

Kemar Roofe proved an able deputy to Alfredo Morelos up front for Rangers as the Wallsall-born striker added two goals to take his total to 14 for the season.

  12. FULL-TIME Rangers 4-0 Cove Rangerspublished at 20:22 British Summer Time 4 April 2021

Rangers ease their way into a last-16 berth at home to city rivals Celtic.

There was to be no fairytale for Cove as they failed to match Berwick's 1967 feat of beating the bigger Rangers in the Scottish Cup.

A double from Kemar Roofe and strikes from Jermain Defoe and Nathan Patterson had Steven Gerrard's side home and dry by half-time, with the second half a mere formality.

The rain is now lashing down at Ibrox, but Cove's hopes of a major cup shock were washed away long ago.

Rangers' thirst for goals continues as they keep pressing, but their bite in front of goal has dampened as the half has progressed.

    Rangers 4-0 Cove Rangers

It's like shootie-in inside the Cove penalty box.

The League 1 part-timers are just packing themselves in front of goal - and it's working. They will maybe wonder what might have happened if they had played this way from the start rather than trying to play too much football early on.

  17. Masson worry for Covepublished at 20:09 British Summer Time 4 April 2021

    Rangers 4-0 Cove Rangers

Midfielder Jamie Masson was taken off on a stretcher after half-time and it looked a serious one that will be a big concern for manager Paul Hartley as his side return to chasing League 1 leaders Falkirk after tonight's game.
