A lively game, but no goals. Jamie McGrath's missed penalty will sting for St Mirren, as will an injury to Ryan Flynn right on half-time.
He looks to have pulled a muscle and so Jim Goodwin will be forced to make a change.
The first half comes to a close with Ross Callachan flashing a header just off target.
The home side have responded well to losing an early goal but trail at the halfway stage.
Despite a sluggish start, Celtic are cruising towards a first league win in three games.
Goals from James Forrest and David Turnbull extinguished Livingston's early spark and the visitors have been unable to trouble home keeper Scott Bain.
James Forrest scored on his first Premiership start since September
One shot on target in the first 45 minutes says it all. There hasn't been much at all to be enthused about.
Chris Kane, though, should really have given St Johnstone the lead when gifted an opportunity yards from goal, but he blasted over.

Celtic 2-0 Livingston
Celtic are denied a third on the stroke of half-time as Odsonne Edouard's strike is saved by the legs of Robby McCrorie.
The hosts go into the break in the lead after a engrossing first half that has seen all goals come inside the opening quarter of the game.
Michael Gardyne cancelled out Chris Burke's volley after just five minutes, before Mitch Pinnock restored Killie's lead just over 10 minutes later.
County are creating chances and are still well in this, but the home side look like they can add to their lead at any time.
Set up for a cracker of a second half.
Mitch Pinnock's third Killie goal has Tommy Wright's side ahead
Kilmarnock 2-1 Ross County
Michael Gardyne is inches away from grabbing his and his side's second.
Billy Mckay provides the pass for the County winger on the right of the box. He then cuts inside his man before reversing a finish to the near post, but drags it just wide.
Hamilton Academical v Dundee United (15:00)
Hamilton are really piling on the pressure. Hakeem Odoffin with a free header at the back-post but hits the side-netting. Kyle Munro's free-kick shortly afterwards fizzes over the bar.
Dundee United hanging on for half-time.
Daniel Armstrong
Hamilton Academical 0-1 Dundee United
Ross Callachan will lament missing this golden chance for Hamilton as they continue their attacking pressure.
His close-range lob beats Dundee United keeper Benjamin Siegrist but sails onto the roof of the net.
David Turnbull
The hosts double their lead with a well-worked goal.
Greg Taylor released Mohamed Elyounoussi down the left and the Norwegian hits the byeline to deliver a cross that leaves Turnbull with a tap-in to an empty net.
Celtic 1-0 Livingston
Celtic have a spring in their step after scoring and Mohamed Elyounoussi isn't far away from a second, glancing Jonjoe Kenny's inviting cross wide of the post.
Motherwell 0-0 St Mirren
Jamie McGrath has had his spot-kick saved by Liam Kelly! A poor strike from the midfielder who is normally so dependable from the spot.
Motherwell 0-0 St Mirren
Dylan Connolly is brought down by a Stephen O'Donnell challenge.
Hamilton Academical 0-1 Dundee United
The Dundee United goalkeeper is having a great game so far.
After stopping Scott McMann's drive from range, Benjamin Siegrist springs into action to deny Kyle Munro from the edge of the box.
Motherwell 0-0 St Mirren
This looks like a clear penalty for St Mirren. Ilkay Durmus fires in a cross and it smacks Motherwell's Robbie Crawford right on the hand. His arms are completely outstretched - certainly not a natural position. Referee Kevin Clancy shakes his head, though.
Buddies boss Jim Goodwin is not happy...
Kilmarnock 2-1 Ross County
Lovely skill from Mitch Pinnock on the byline has two County men paying to get back in, but his cross evades everyone in the box.
Straight up the other end, Billy Mckay throws in a cross of his own. There are tame shouts for a penalty as it seems to take a nick, perhaps off someone's hand. Hard to tell on the replay.
Hamilton Academical 0-1 Dundee United
Jamie Hamilton is down in a heap and the Hamilton players claim for a penalty.
Referee Bobby Madden waves the claims away after the defender's driving run into the box. Hamilton's Hakeem Odoffin then comes close with a header shortly afterwards.
James Forrest
It's two goals in two games for fit-again Forrest as Celtic take the lead.
The winger latches on to Odsonne Edouard's lofted pass and his scuffed finish creeps past outrushing keeper Robby McCrorie to go in at the near post.
