A reminder, this is the first of two Championship play-off semi-final first legs this evening.

Barnsley host Swansea City at 20:15 BST, with around 4,500 fans at Oakwell for that one.

Tomorrow brings action in League One and League Two, with play-off games every day until Sunday.

Bournemouth certainly the side to create the better chances in that first half.

Will they regret not converting at least one of them as the tie progresses?

A bitter pill to swallow for Steve Cook as well seeing as he had one of the best of them and now must be a serious doubt for Saturday's return leg.

The fans-back factor seems to be working in Bournemouth's favour meanwhile and it is odd not to hear an away contingent responding and giving their all to the chants from the 2,000 here.

Level at the break at the Vitality Stadium.

Bournemouth will probably feel they should be ahead, with Dominic Solanke seeing a header come back off the post.

Cherries skipper Steve Cook also had a header saved before being forced off with injury.

The Bees are yet to register an effort on target.

First booking of the game as Mads Roerslev tugs back David Brooks just inside the Bees half after the Bournemouth forward popped the ball past him.

  6. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 45 + 1 mins

    Bournemouth 0-0 Brentford

Steve Cook can't continue, and is replaced at centre-back Chris Mepham.

Cook covers his face with his shirt as he limps off. That surely makes him a doubt for the second leg.

We'll have a couple more minutes until the break after that stoppage.

    Bournemouth 0-0 Brentford

Bournemouth skipper Steve Cook goes down after making a clearance.

Tim Robinson stops play so the centre-back can receive treatment.

There was no challenge on Cook, so it's a concern for the hosts.

We're into two minutes of stoppage time.

More defending for the Bees to do, with the hosts on top before the break.

A Lloyd Kelly cross is cut out, then Arnaut Danjuma can't twist and turn his way past Ethan Pinnock and Sergi Canos in the box.

The visitors deal with another ball into the box before an offside flag provides some respite.

Then Bournemouth right-back Adam Smith goes down. There have been a few injury issues in this first half.

  9. GREAT SAVE!published at 41 mins

Crucial stop from Bees keeper David Raya, who flies to his left to parry away Steve Cook's header from a corner.

David Brooks pounces on the rebound, but sees his shot blocked by Ivan Toney.

The rain is back here in Boscombe, thankfully not as heavy as those treacherous downpours earlier this afternoon.

Certainly hasn't been a day for buckets and spades down on the sands nearby, much more suitable for sitting inside a pub or restaurant in the dry with a few friends, which is convenient given the lifting of lockdown restrictions today.

In the meantime, anyone mind turning up the temperature here so that it resembles something more like mid-May and not mid-December?

Bournemouth break away from the Bees corner and mount a counter-attack which appears to be threatening.

Dominic Solanke advances with the ball and has support on his right, but the Brentford defence recovers.

Vitaly Janelt comes back to nip in and cut out Solanke's attempted pass.

The home crowd groans at a missed opportunity.

Sergi Canos shoots from just over 20 yards out and his shot loops up off the back of a defender.

Home keeper Asmir Begovic is wrong-footed and scrambles back, and is grateful to see the ball drop over his bar.

Bit of concern for Jonathan Woodgate in this first half will centre around Steve Cook and David Brooks, who have both spent some time getting treatment.

Adam Smith has also been on the receiving end a bit too up against both Tariqe Fosu and Ivan Toney.

Cook looked set to make way for Chris Mepham a while ago in an enforced early change, but he appears OK to continue for now.

Ten minutes to the break, and defences have been on top so far this evening.

A header from Bournemouth striker Dominic Solanke, which hit the post, is the closest we have come to a goal.

A few chants of 'You don't know what you're doing' are directed at referee Tim Robinson, as the official awards Bees midfielder Mathias Jensen a seemingly cheap free-kick.

Ivan Toney attempts to get on the end of a cross into the Bournemouth box but can't direct it on target.

Tariqe Fosu picks up the pieces on the left-hand side of the box but then trips Ben Pearson and gives away a foul.

Jay Perry: I think the play-offs are great. They give four teams a chance of the massive revenue of the PL. I do think we ought to include 18th in the PL in the play-offs in some way. It might stop some of the yo-yoing.

David Brooks is back in the thick of the action on the right flank, as he's on the end of a full-blooded tackle from Sergi Canos.

    Fair challenge.

Brentford are slowly growing into this game as they see a bit more of the ball.

Sergi Canos is also looking to drift in a bit more centrally when they do go on the attack.
