Morton are finishing the stronger at Fir Park, it almost feels as if Motherwell are sleepwalking into a shock exit.

Graham Alexander's men don't look like creating anything as we head towards extra time.

Chance for the away side, who have a second wind here.

Aidan Nesbitt's strike from the left is flicked goalwards by Michael Ledger, but Liam Kelly holds it well.

Forfar have had plenty of chances. Steven Doris and Jordan Allan in particular really should have hit the target with efforts.

But Dundee United went close too, with Forfar keeper Marc McCallum saving well from Lawrence Shankland and Nicky Clark, who also hit the bar with a free-kick.

Daniel Scally also has a long-range shot from Forfar but it trickles well wide.

The visitors embark on a rare venture forward but Robbie Muirhead is isolated and tries a speculative long-range strike that trundles into the arms of Liam Kelly.

Legs getting heavier for the second-tier side.

Morton look like they're starting to tire as Motherwell continue to dominate possession.

But Graham Alexander will be disappointed with the lack of clear-cut chances his side are creating as both Devante Cole and Christopher Long blast over from range.

Dundee United are beginning to look more like themselves.

A great delivery towards the back post finds Nicky Clark whose header looks destined for the bottom left-hand corner, but Marc McCallum makes another terrific stop.

Good passing play from Dundee United gets them up the park, but Marc McNulty collects the ball wide right and boots it over the bar.

Whether it was a cross or shot, it wasn't any trouble at all for Forfar and it's an opportunity wasted.

A wonderful chance for Forfar.

Jordan Allan outpaces the United defence and gets to a long ball, but he snatches at the shot and doesn't hit the target.

Surprisingly, it's the League 1 side who are dominating possession and chances after 25 minutes of this cup tie.

Scotland striker Lawrence Shankland almost pokes Dundee United into the lead.

He gets gets in behind the defence after a great first touch, but goalkeeper Marc McCallum dives at his feet and clears.

Scotland internationals Declan Gallagher and Stephen O'Donnell combine as Gallagher finds his right-back at the bye-line with a chipped pass.

O'Donnell steers a looping ball into the box towards Devante Cole who controls well before lashing just wide of the top-right corner.

Another corner kick for Forfar who continue to be the better team.

They take it short, it gets cleared as far as Murray MacKintosh, but the shot is wayward.

Motherwell have started the second half the way the finished the first. They look far more assured than in the first 40 minutes.

A lot of the hosts' good play is coming from Christopher Long, who makes a yard for himself before drilling a left-footed strike towards goal from the edge of the area, but Aidan McAdams gets down well to his left to hold on to the ball.
