    Quote Message

Rangers are finding more space out wide and you're just starting to see St Johnstone get pulled apart. The back five aren't as compact any more

  6. HITS THE WOODWORKpublished at 61mins

    Rangers 0-0 St Johnstone

How close can you go without scoring?

James Tavernier whips in a wonderful dipping cross to the back post and Alfredo Morelos holds off his marker to head towards goal from 10 yards.

However, it deflects off the inside of St Johnstone's far post and bounces into goalkeeper Zander Clark's grateful waiting arms.

  7. Kane for Melamedpublished at 57mins

    Rangers 0-0 St Johnstone

Guy Melamed, who lasted 22 minutes before going off with double vision caused by a migraine on Wednesday, leaves the field early again against Rangers.

The Israeli striker has been in good form but is more of a penalty box specialist and manager Callum Davidson adds the strength of Chris Kane to his forward line.

  8. YELLOW CARD McCann (St Johnstone)published at 54mins

    Rangers 0-0 St Johnstone

Referee Alan Muir books St Johnstone midfielder Ali McCann for a late challenge on James Tavernier in the build-up to that last Rangers chance.

    HT: Rangers 0-0 St Johnstone

    Stephen Robinson
Former Motherwell manager on BBC Sportsound

    Quote Message

Rangers have to play wider and pull St Johnstone from side to side and hope that someone in the defence switches off. Then they can take advantage

  15. Third-time lucky for Saints?published at 19:27 British Summer Time 25 April 2021

    HT: Rangers 0-0 St Johnstone

Indeed, in 52 games this season, Rangers have only failed to score twice - once early in the league season against Livingston and then in their Europa League exit at home to Slavia Prague.

Can St Johnstone become the third side to force them to draw a blank?

  16. Half a job done by St Johnstonepublished at 19:23 British Summer Time 25 April 2021

    HT: Rangers 0-0 St Johnstone

    Tom English
    BBC Scotland's chief sports writer

    Quote Message

Rangers have scored in just about every domestic game this season, so defensively St Johnstone have been very good. You can see that Callum Davidson can set a team up and Steven Gerrard is pulling his hair out. However, if St Johnstone are going to win, it looks like they might need extra-time and penalties

  17. Not good enough from Rangerspublished at 19:20 British Summer Time 25 April 2021

    HT: Rangers 0-0 St Johnstone

    Charlie Adam
Former Rangers midfielder on BBC Sportsound

Rangers will have to improve in the second half if they want to go and win this match

  18. HALF-TIME Rangers 0-0 St Johnstonepublished at 19:17 British Summer Time 25 April 2021

St Johnstone manager Callum Davidson will be delighted with his side's first-half performance with the score goalless against the Scottish champions.

Rangers have only hit the target twice, but a Glen Kamara shot and an Alfredo Morelos were easily dealt with by goalkeeper Zander Clark.

Meanwhile, the closest to a goal came from the visitors, with Scott Tanser's delightful volley forcing a good save from Allan McGregor.

Still all to play for and still the possibility of a cup upset.
