  1. United benefit from 'magnificent' effortpublished at 16:47 British Summer Time 25 April 2021

    FT: Aberdeen 0-3 Dundee United

Former Aberdeen defender on BBC Sportsound

    Quote Message

A manager after seeing that performance by United can go to his players and suggest what is possible if they give the effort they gave. For me, there was quality and the goals were quality, but their effort was magnificent. They never stopped from start to finish

  2. 'Embarrassing' for Aberdeenpublished at 16:44 British Summer Time 25 April 2021

    FT: Aberdeen 0-3 Dundee United

    Craig Levein
Former Dundee United manager on BBC Sportsound

    Quote Message

This is a big game for Dundee United and Aberdeen and this is an embarrassing result for Aberdeen I think. Particularly the way they played. they were very insipid and didn't play with any aggression at all. Yet United's three strikers have had to do most of the work themselves as their three midfielders are all defensively minded

  3. New approach, old problemspublished at 16:36 British Summer Time 25 April 2021

    FT: Aberdeen 0-3 Dundee United

    Willie Miller
Former Aberdeen defender on BBC Sportsound

    Quote Message

It is a new approach to defending for Aberdeen. I don't think Aberdeen have got the players that can defend like that - two centre-backs together and two full-backs pushed right up the park. It could have been more embarrassing. I think the fans, having watched this today, will have been very disappointed

  4. United 'back where they should be'published at 16:33 British Summer Time 25 April 2021

    FT: Aberdeen 0-3 Dundee United

Dundee United manager Micky Mellon tells BBC Scotland: "Fantastic performance. Dundee United are back in the semi-finals, where they should be all the time.

"They showed what they're capable of. Their work-rate was fantastic and they got whet they deserved."

  5. McNulty 'buzzing' to reach semi-finalspublished at 16:31 British Summer Time 25 April 2021

    FT: Aberdeen 0-3 Dundee United

Dundee United striker Marc McNulty tells BBC Scotland: "Probably our best performance at a team this season.

"Clean sheet, never really gave them too much. Buzzing to get into the next round. It's a good trip to Hampden and fingers crossed we get a good tie."

  6. Dominant visitors from Dundeepublished at 16:25 British Summer Time 25 April 2021

    FT: Aberdeen 0-3 Dundee United

    BBC Scotland at Pittodrie Stadium

A resounding win for Dundee United, utterly dominant from start to finish. Rock solid at the back, not that the Tangerine's rearguard had much to do, and razor sharp at the top. A great day all round. As for Aberdeen, outplayed, out fought and out of the cup.

  7. FULL-TIME Aberdeen 0-3 Dundee Unitedpublished at 16:23 British Summer Time 25 April 2021

Aberdeen will be missing from the Scottish Cup semi-finals for the first time in five years.

The home side can have no complaints as they were rarely in the game from the second Marc McNulty applied the first of two fine finishes early in the first half.

A Ryan Edwards header amplified their first-half dominance, with McNulty ending the Dons' resistance after the break.

United missed out on a top-six place in the Premiership, but they are into their first Scottish Cup semi-final since 2016. New Aberdeen boss Stephen Glass' hopes of matching predecessor Derek McInnes by starting his tenure by lifting a trophy are dashed.

  8. YELLOW CARD Smith (Dundee United)published at 90+1

    Aberdeen 0-3 Dundee United

Another unnecessary booking and Lewis Smith goes into the book for a foul on Lewis Ferguson as we enter stoppage time.

  9. Mellon's 'perfect afternoon'published at 16:18 British Summer Time 25 April 2021

    Aberdeen 0-3 Dundee United

    Willie Miller
Former Scotland defender on BBC Sportsound

    Quote Message

It's been just about the most perfect afternoon for Micky Mellon as Dundee United manager

  10. Double United changepublished at 87mins

    Aberdeen 0-3 Dundee United

On-loan Manchester City midfielder Luke Bolton and striker Louis Appere come on for United and strike duo Lawrence Shankland and Nicky Clark come off for a well-earned rest having steered United to a fine win.

  11. Postpublished at 86mins

    Aberdeen 0-3 Dundee United

The game is petering out towards an inevitable conclusion with United destined for the Scottish Cup semi-finals.

Aberdeen's have been lacklustre in their attempt to come back into the game.

  12. Pawlett for Butcherpublished at 82mins

    Aberdeen 0-3 Dundee United

Calum Butcher has been walking a tightrope in recent minutes having already been booked and manager Micky Mellon takes no chances by replacing the Englishman with fellow midfielder Peter Pawlett.

  13. YELLOW CARD Harkes (Dundee United)published at 80mins

    Aberdeen 0-3 Dundee United

United midfielder Ian Harkes goes into the referee's book.

A bit silly for the American as the game already looks won.

  14. Ruth for Hendrypublished at 16:08 British Summer Time 25 April 2021

    Aberdeen 0-3 Dundee United

Could it be an indication that Aberdeen manager Stephen Glass does not see his side coming back from this that he brings on 19-year-old Michael Ruth for ineffectual on-loan St Johnstone striker Callum Hendry?

That's the former Arbroath loanee's second Dons appearance.

  15. Game over?published at 16:02 British Summer Time 25 April 2021

    Aberdeen 0-3 Dundee United

  16. Not good reading for Donspublished at 15:59 British Summer Time 25 April 2021

    Aberdeen 0-3 Dundee United

    Craig Levein
Former Dundee United manager on BBC Sportsound

    Quote Message

Dundee United have outfought Aberdeen, they've outrun Aberdeen and they've outscored Aberdeen. That doesn't read well for an Aberdeen supporter

  17. Postpublished at 70mins

    Aberdeen 0-3 Dundee United

It's the first time Aberdeen have lost three at Pittodrie since September against Motherwell and they have only managed three of their own once this season - in October in a 3-3 draw with Celtic.

Now they have to score three without reply in 20 minutes or they are exiting the Scottish Cup.

  18. YELLOW CARD Russell (Aberdeen)published at 64mins

    Aberdeen 0-3 Dundee United

New Aberdeen coach Allan Russell is the latest to feel the wrath of referee Kevin Clancy for something he has said.

The man lauded for his work with England's strikers before the recent move to Pittodrie must be realising he has a big task on his hand in making improvements in Aberdeen.

  19. Postpublished at 61mins

    Aberdeen 0-3 Dundee United

Aberdeen manager Stephen Glass looks to change the course of the game with a couple of substitutions, although it might already be too late.

Dylan McGeouch and Ethan Ross replace Niall McGinn and Dean Campbell in midfield.

  20. YELLOW CARDSpublished at 60mins

    Aberdeen 0-3 Dundee United

Aberdeen defender Andrew Considine shows his frustration as he takes out Lawrence Shankland.

That comes after another booking, this time for United double scorer Marc McNulty.
