After a strong start by the visitors it is now Aston Villa who are enjoying a good period of possession. They work the ball forward down the right but Luke Shaw defends well to win back possession before Paul Pogba starts a Manchester United attack.

I see Matty Cash is tucking in a bit too close to Esri Konsa, leaving a lot of space down Manchester United left.

It will be interesting to see how Cash and Luke Shaw get on today. Two honest players, it will be a good battle that one.

First chance for Aston Villa but it is nothing to worry Dean Henderson as Anwar El Ghazi sends a speculative effort wide.

The ball somehow finds it way to the far post and Greenwood just didn't know how to finish it, he ended up passing it across the box and no team-mate was there to put it in the net.

Manchester United cranking things up a bit now as Luke Shaw links up well with Marcus Rashford to get into the box and gets a strong shot off but Emi Martinez is equal to it, before Paul Pogba tries to sneak a placed effort into the far corner, but Martinez is again alert to the threat.

A Marcus Rashford shot takes a hefty deflection and loops to the far post where Mason Greenwood is to volley the ball back into the middle of the box, but there's no Manchester United player there.

United will come here with confidence knowing they do well at Villa Park most of the time.

Aston Villa have to keep a really good shape when they are out of possession and stop United from finding those gaps.

Jack Grealish, who could soon be back for Aston Villa, is in the stands watching on, as is England boss Gareth Southgate.

It has been a relatively slow start to the game, with Manchester United the first to attack as Mason Greenwood tries to get in on the right but his path is blocked off and Villa clear.

We'll keep the reaction to the early game rolling through, but we are under way at Villa Park.

Wolves

Wolves boss Nuno Espírito Santo, speaking to BBC MOTD: "I thought the reaction of my players in the second half was very good. In the first half we were really disappointed.

"All the young players did well. It's the right moment to try and build and improve players. The red card made a big difference. We deserved the win."

Aston Villa boss Dean Smith, speaking to Sky Sports about his side's long wait for another league win over Manchester United: "It has been too long for Aston Villa, that's for sure. Manchester United have been an amazing club over a period of time, certainly with Sir Alex. We have to put that right today.

"I expect a tight contest. They have improved under Ole."

They need a win to keep alive their title hopes, and deny Manchester City celebrating winning the Premier League today.
