That's all for this evening. Congratulations to Hibs; the first team into the semi finals of the Scottish Cup - and commiseration to Motherwell, who fought back bravely only to bow out on spot-kicks.

We'll be back tomorrow for Aberdeen v Dundee United and Rangers v St Johnstone.

The last cup instalment comes on Monday when Kilmarnock host St Mirren.

Join us again for those games and enjoy what's left of your Saturday.

  2. Ross eyeing third and a cup winpublished at 20:13 British Summer Time 24 April 2021

FT: Hibernian 2-2 Motherwell (Hibs win 4-2 on penalties)

Hibernian head coach Jack Ross says he's aiming to cement a third place finish in the Premiership and a Scottish Cup win to go with it.

"I thought we were really good for 80 minutes of the game, there was a lot of disappointment in not seeing it out," he tells BBC Sportsound.

"The players who came off the bench gave us fresh energy because the players were a bit mentally fatigued by the final 10 minutes.

"I was surprised to see us pegged back because we've been good when ahead in games.

"We want to win a cup. We wanted to finish third and win a cup, huge ambition but we all bought into it, players and staff, and we've given ourselves a good chance of doing that."

  3. Alexander 'proud' after 'galling' defeatpublished at 20:11 British Summer Time 24 April 2021

FT: Hibernian 2-2 Motherwell (Hibs win 4-2 on penalties)

Motherwell manager Graham Alexander says he's proud of his players after losing out on penalties.

"Every defeat is difficult but when you've played so well, come back from the dead and come so close to winning it, to lose on penalties is galling," he tells BBC Sportsound.

"It's the nature of the competition, we won the last round on penalties and you have to take the rough with the smooth.

"All I can say is I'm incredibly proud of everyone in a Motherwell shirt tonight, because they were absolutely brilliant."

You can catch highlights at 22:20 on BBC One Scotland.

At half time we were worried about a lack of action but there will be plenty to pack into the match edit and lots for Hibs midfielder Scott Allan and ex-Motherwell boss Stephen Robinson to chew over in the analysis section.

Stevie Lawless and Mark O'Hara are normally so dependable with penalties, but you maybe have to take into account the size of the goalkeeper. Then you might think 'this has to be perfect' and that adds a bit of tension.

I've got to talk about young Josh Doig too. He was up and down the full length of the pitch. What a shift he does for the team. He's only 18 and I don't think it's the right time for him to move on

I think it will be difficult for Hibs to hold on to Ryan Porteous in the summer. He's had a very good season and he's at that age where he might fancy a move. He showed great belief with that penalty

  8. 'We dug deep and kept our nerve'published at 19:50 British Summer Time 24 April 2021

FT: Hibernian 2-2 Motherwell (4-2 pens)

Hibernian defender Ryan Porteous says he and his team-mates had to reset and go again to recover from letting a two-goal lead slip.

"That's cup competitions for you, anything can happen," he tells Premier Sports.

"I'm just delighted that we're heading back to Hampden. We were down a bit but you can't dwell on those moments. We dug deep and in penalties we kept our nerve."

FT: Hibernian 2-2 Motherwell (4-2 pens)

Hibs are into a fourth successive semi final. Two League Cup, two Scottish Cup. Can they reach a first final since their glory day in 2016 at the fourth time of asking?

And they did it the hard way; throwing away a 2-0 lead then coming out on top during the lottery of penalties.

Cool, calm, collected penalty. You expect a big centre-half to go for power, but he went for accuracy and sent the keeper the wrong way.
