And that's it from us on an evening that will be remembered for Manchester City winning a fifth Premier League title and third in four years.

Pep Guardiola's side didn't even have to leave the sofa... this one was wrapped up when Manchester United lost to Leicester City earlier, meaning City boast an unassailable lead with three games to go.

And it's safe to say they're pretty happy about it....

    FT: Southampton 3-1 Crystal Palace

    Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace boss Roy Hodgson to BBC Sport: "It's disappointing. I thought it hinges on those two minutes before and after half time.

"Had we taken the penalty things could have been different. After we went behind I thought we played OK, we had a few chances and we looked as though we had the threat and we decided to throw caution to the wind and of course on the counter attack we concede the third goal.

"Benteke played well again tonight, he was ulucky not to get a second goal. He must be pleased with his night's work. We aren't satisfied with the performacne but we can't be accused of not giving it our best shot.

"Football is a consant succession of mountains to climb, we won't let the club or fans down, we'll try our best. We want to win the last three games and we'll have to play at least as well as we did on Saturday."

  3. 'Time to have a promising ending'published at 22:39 British Summer Time 11 May 2021

    FT: Southampton 3-1 Crystal Palace

    Southampton

Southampton boss Ralph Hassenhuttl on Match of the Day: "It is the worst thing that should happen, they always score very early, it didn't kill our game plan because we knew we would have a lot of possession and try to create chances.

"We could have scored even more. we tried to move them around and they had big problems with our attacking stuff. We needed Fraser Forster before half-time because the penalty save was important, then the start for a very lively second half, creating some very good chances. A good evening."

On Danny Ings: "No big gamble because I left him out against Liverpool and he wanted to play, I knew against Palace I needed his quality in the box and this is what we got today. It is good to see and good for the team. This is Danny Ings."

On the rest of the season: "To bring as many points as possible, climb a few positions, we know we have had some issues since Christmas - 2020 was fantastic and 2021 so far not, it is now time to turn it around and have a promising ending.

"We will not forget what problems we have and to try to solve them in the summer - we have a small squad and need more players."

    FT: Southampton 3-1 Crystal Palace

    Southampton

Southampton goalkeeper Fraser Forster, speaking to Match of the Day: "Disappointing to concede so early, but we showed a good reaction and pretty much dominated the game after that, played some great stuff and took our chances."

On his penalty save: "I decided to go that way and I don't think he caught it how he would have liked, luckily it stayed out and nice for me. It feels like a lifetime when VAR is checking, I don't think anyone is a huge fan but it is what it is."

  6. Postpublished at 22:18 British Summer Time 11 May 2021

    FT: Southampton 3-1 Crystal Palace

Only bottom two sides West Bromwich Albion (1) and Sheffield United (0) have kept fewer away clean sheets in the Premier League this season than Crystal Palace (2).

Seven of Christian Benteke’s eight Premier League goals for Crystal Palace this season have come away from home, the highest ratio of any player to score at least five times this season (88%).

  7. Postpublished at 22:16 British Summer Time 11 May 2021

    FT: Southampton 3-1 Crystal Palace

Christian Benteke says as a striker it was important for him to score but that Crystal Palace could have made more of their chances at St Mary's.

"Mentally and physically I feel strong and fit," he said. "We have got some great games coming, especially at home against Arsenal with our fans."

  8. Postpublished at 22:13 British Summer Time 11 May 2021

    FT: Southampton 3-1 Crystal Palace

    Southampton

Southampton's double goalscorer Danny Ings to Sky Sports: "Massive team performance. We demand more from ourselves and when we look at the table we don't think its good enough.

"As a team it's beern tough when we've conceded but tonight we stuck to our game plan. We have three games left and today is the start of finishing strong.

Thinking about reaching 100 goals? "To be honest no - I've been out for three weeks, I felt really good and that's all I was thinking about.

On aiming for England spot at Euros: "It's a huge thing for any player to try and aim for, there's a lot of great strikers around but I'll do what I can."

  9. The stats...published at 22:11 British Summer Time 11 May 2021

    FT: Southampton 3-1 Crystal Palace

Southampton have taken seven points from their last three home games (W2 D1), having won just five points from their previous 24 available to them at St Mary’s (W1 D2 L5).

Some 14 of Southampton’s 44 Premier League goals this season have come from set-piece situations (excluding penalties), the highest ratio in the division (31.8%). Che Adams’ strike tonight was from a corner.

Danny Ings’ leveller was the 100th in his professional club career in all competitions (now 101). He’s scored more for Saints (46) than he has for any other side (Burnley 43, Bournemouth 8, Liverpool 4).

Southampton keeper Fraser Forster has saved three of the last five penalties he’s faced in the Premier League, though tonight was his first such stop in the competition since September 2017.

Che Adams has scored eight goals in 34 Premier League games this season, doubling his tally from last term in the competition (4 in 30 games).

Southampton were a joy to watch tonight.

The strikers looked dangerous all night and special mention to Walker Peters - he was absolutely everywhere.

If Southampton played like that every week, they would be pushing for the top six and that's where they should be.

A good performance from the Saints, and in particular the returning Danny Ings.

Into added time at St Mary's. Wilfried Zaha tangles with Jack Stephens and gets himself a yellow card. He was getting some close attention from the Southampton defender but turned round and shoved Stephens. A touch of frustration.

Palace have had good moments but they just haven't had enough of them.

Zaha kept trying to come into the game but he has spent so much of the game trying to get away from Walker-Peters. And that is just saying how good Walker-Peters has been.

It gives you a real lift if you can end the season well. The manager will be looking at the strike force and hope he can keep them fit.

If he can keep Danny Ings fit, he will score a whole bunch of goals. It's not complicated!
