    Nathan Blake
Former Cardiff and Wales striker on BBC Radio Wales

In the first 20 minutes Wales were playing their system well and creating chances.

The handball and the sending off has totally killed the game. It just becomes a fitness exercise now.

  2. HALF-TIME - France 1-0 Walespublished at 20:53 British Summer Time 2 June 2021

    And that's half-time.

    A lot to digest.

Wales have played well, yet trail and are down to 10 men and Danny Ward has denied Karim Benzema from the penalty spot.

Let's have a brew and reconvene in a few.

Brilliant one-touch football and Kylian Mbappe almost gives France a second, but Danny Ward tips over his fierce drive.

    Ward has been outstanding.

    France 1-0 Wales

This now feels like a toil, like a Wales game from 15 years ago.

Then it was Carl and Carl struggling in midfield in games like this, overrun and out-gunned.

    Tonight it's Joe and Joe.

    France 1-0 Wales

    Helen Ward
Wales' all-time record scorer on BBC Radio Wales

I think Danny Ward was superb with the initial save but Kylian Mbappe reacted superbly, he's so quick off the mark, Joe Rodon stood no chance.

That deflection was unlucky for Wales.

A reflection on the game so far. Now it is going to be very, very tough.

Robert Page has six substitutions and will need to use them wisely.

    The breakthrough comes.

Adrien Rabiot's shot deflects and wrong-foots Danny Ward, who blocks, but it's straight to the one man you don't want it to fall to and France lead.

I mean, 90 minutes against the world champions and Euro 2020 favourites was hard enough, but over an hour against 10 men? Sheesh.

Danny Ward has just made two incredible saves to keep the scores level.

Great to see Joe Allen back out there, so key for Wales.

Are we worried not to see Aaron Ramsey, Ben Davies and Ethan Ampadu?
