I think they're coping very well with what France has to offer. As long as the players know their jobs, I think it's been a really good start from Wales.

Wales work a corner and it culminates in an offside flag before Hugo Lloris tipped the ball over, but Wales have a nice control of this game so far.

It's a momentous night for Hugo Lloris, his 100th international appearance as France's captain, a feat achieved by no other man.

Wales just tried to test him, but Harry Wilson flashed a shot wide after some good build-up.

Wales have got to be careful, they can't let the France defenders and midfielders play the ball straight into the likes of Mbappe.

The neutral will have enjoyed chances at either end and Wales have carried a good threat on the counter-attack.

If there was a combination to demonstrate how strong a team France have fielded against Wales, then it was on show for their first chance with Manchester United's Paul Pogba crossing for Real Madrid's Karim Benzema.

Barcelona's Antoine Griezmann has also started this game well. He's popping up everywhere in his free role.

Neco Williams is more than capable, we've seen him switch from right-back to left-back so I think he'll be okay.

A frenetic start, you would never know it is a friendly.

Wales are lining up with Neco Williams in midfield, so it will be interesting to see how he gets on in an unfamiliar position.

France have started brightly and Danny Ward has just had to save well after Paul Pogba's teasing cross was glanced on by Karim Benzema.

Then it's up the other end and Dan James forces Hugo Lloris to save. End to end!

France’s squad makes grim reading for any opposition fan. Their strength in depth is frankly ridiculous.

As Wales boss Robert Page said yesterday, his counterpart Didier Deschamps could field three teams at Euro 2020 and each would be more than competitive.

France are world champions and their recent form has been imperious, losing only one of their previous 18 matches.

But for Welsh fans looking to cling on to a tiny morsel of hope, it is worth noting that solitary defeat came in a friendly at home to Finland last November.

Finland lost twice to Wales either side of that victory in Paris so… I’m just saying there’s a chance.

• Wales have won just one of their five previous meetings with France, a 1-0 victory in Toulouse in 1982 with Ian Rush scoring the winner. All previous meetings have been friendlies.
• The most recent encounter between France and Wales was in November 2017 at the Stade de France, with France winning 2-0 with goals from Antoine Griezmann and Olivier Giroud.
• This is only France's fourth match at the Allianz Riviera in Nice - they are unbeaten in their previous three games at the stadium, all friendlies between 2014 and 2018.
• Wales have won nine of their past 13 matches, conceding just seven goals in this 13-game spell, six of which came in their two defeats: 3-0 against England and 3-1 against Belgium.
• France have won 18 of their past 23 matches, although four of the five matches they've failed to win in this run have come on French soil.
• Since a 1-0 victory in Denmark in November 2008, Wales have lost their past eight away friendly matches, failing to score in each of their past seven on the road.
• Although he hasn't scored in his past eight starts for Wales, Gareth Bale has five assists in this time and has assisted in each of his past four starts for his country.

Wales defender Joe Rodon has been telling BBC Sport Wales about the difficulty of making the step up to the Premier League following his £11m move from Swansea City in October 2020.

The Tottenham defender faces another challenge as he comes up against Mbappe, Benzema and Co tonight.

Has Euro 2016 hero Hal Robson-Kanu played his last game for Wales after failing to make the cut for Euro 2020? Not necessarily.

Wales interim manager Robert Page says the door is still open for the forward.

He was sent home from a Wales squad in March for "breaching protocols" but Page said his latest exclusion was for footballing reasons.

Robson-Kanu, who was released by West Bromwich Albion last week, was one of Wales' stars of Euro 2016, scoring an iconic goal in the 3-1 quarter-final win over Belgium.

Tyler Roberts feared his Euro 2020 dream was over after he was thrown out of the Wales squad in March for breaching Covid-19 protocols.

The Leeds striker was sent home along with Hal Robson-Kanu and Rabbi Matondo ahead of the 2022 World Cup qualifying win against the Czech Republic.

But unlike his two team-mates, Roberts was named in Wales' 26-man squad for this summer's European Championships.

"I made a mistake and owned up to it," said the 22-year-old, capped 13 times.
