  1. Group Gpublished at 10:08 British Summer Time 9 June 2021

Fabio Cannavaro (Italy), Henrik Larsson (Sweden), Paul Scholes (England), Ruud van Nistelrooy (Netherlands)

    Group GImage source, .

To win the Ballon d'Or as a defender is something very rare indeed so for Fabio Cannavaro to win it in 2006 just underlines how incredible he was at that time.

But he's up against strong competition in this group - Henrik Larsson, a veteran of three World Cups and three Euros, is widely regarded as one of the best Swedish players of all time.

Meanwhile, Manchester United legend Paul Scholes has a strong case to be regarded as one of the best midfielders of all time while fellow former United player Ruud van Nistelrooy was one of the most lethal finishers inside the area - of the 150 goals he scored for Manchester United, only one of them was outside the box.

    Gary's selection: Paul Scholes.

    Michael's selection: Ruud van Nistelrooy.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic (Sweden), N'Golo Kante (France), Michael Owen (England), Fernando Torres (Spain)

    Group FImage source, .

There will be a Zlatan-shaped hole at this summer's Euros with the larger than life character always a must-watch whenever he is in action.

Meanwhile, there are few better holding midfielders in the world right now than N'Golo Kante - as he showed as Chelsea won the Champions League - and you'd be hard pressed to find better goalscorers than Michael Owen and Fernando Torres at their best.

Each have strong individual qualities that give them a fair shout of winning this group, who makes it through for you though?

    Gary's selection: Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

    Michael's selection: Michael Owen.

Four players who at their prime were undoubtedly a joy to watch.

Gareth Bale helped Wales to reach the semi-finals of Euro 2016 while the effortlessly elegant Pavel Nedved was the star of Euro 2004 dark horses Czech Republic.

There were also few things better than seeing Franck Ribery tearing things up on the flank or Clarence Seedorf controlling play in the middle when the duo were at the top of their game.

    Gary's selection: Clarence Seedorf.

    Michael's selection: Pavel Nedved.

Another tasty group with players who would have a strong shout to claim they are their best in the respective positions.

Do you go for the creative brilliance of Kevin de Bruyne? The defensive rock that is Sergio Ramos? Highly decorated goalkeeping legend Edwin van der Sar or Patrick Viera? The central midfielder that could do it all.

    Decisions, decisions.

Karim Benzema (France), Harry Kane (England), Luka Modric (Croatia), Cristiano Ronaldo (Portugal)

    Group BImage source, .

A strong Tottenham-Real Madrid vibe to this group.

Little needs to be said about Ronaldo's pedigree at club and international level. He's second in the all-time scorers list with 103 goals, just six behind record holder Ali Daei.

Karim Benzema and Luka Modric, of course, still play for Real Madrid, with Benzema having emerged from Ronaldo's shadow in recent years while Harry Kane is Harry Kane, having enjoyed an incredible Premier League season as he won the Golden Boot and was named Playmaker of the Season thanks to his goals and assists.

    Gary's selection: Cristiano Ronaldo.

    Michael's selection: Cristiano Ronaldo.
