  2. 'He's had a really successful career' - McGregor on Postecogloupublished at 13:58 British Summer Time 10 June 2021

McGregor and Scotland team-mate James Forrest have a wealth of experience at Celtic behind them, and the 27-year-old midfielder says that could be beneficial in helping his new manager.

“He’s coming from a different continent and it maybe falls on the likes of me and James [Forrest] to try and help," McGregor adds.

“But he’s [Postecoglou] a smart guy and he’s had a really successful career as a manager, so he’s going to have huge amounts of knowledge anyway.

“He’s there to help you and you’re there to learn from him as well, so that’s the exciting part of meeting new people in football."

  3. 'It's a fresh start' - McGregorpublished at 13:51 British Summer Time 10 June 2021

Celtic midfielder Callum McGregor’s primary focus is on Euro 2020, but he has provided some reaction to the appointment of his new club manager Ange Postecoglou.

“It’s a fresh start and exciting times for the club to begin a new chapter," McGregor told the Celtic club website.

“A new manager coming in will always have his own ideas on the way he wants to play football, and the way that he sees football – how people act around the building, what he wants his team to look like – so it’s a clean slate for everybody.

"We just need to come back and try to impress as much as we can in training and in the games when we get the chance as well.

“At the end of every season you go away and reflect on how it’s gone and how you’ve done, and how you can do better. Then you come back for the new season with new goals and that’s the same this year again as well.

“With the new season coming around, everybody wants it to be successful but we know that the hard work starts as soon as we get back into pre-season. That element is absolutely vital and very important to having a good start in the season.”

  5. Postecoglou 'not a yes man' - McGowanpublished at 13:35 British Summer Time 10 June 2021

Following spells with Brisbane Roar and Melbourne Victory, Postecoglou took Australia to the 2014 World Cup and won the Asian Cup in 2015.

However, he stepped down from the national position after qualifying for the 2018 World Cup.

"He's definitely not a yes man," former Dundee United defender McGowan added. "He left Australia four months before the World Cup.

"He wasn't happy with some of the decisions taken above him, so he walked away.

"He's very stubborn in terms of how he wants to play. All of his teams play exactly the same way. It's a possession-based style, with the emphasis on scoring as many goals as possible. He's not a coach that sits back on a 2-0 lead.

"There are not many players who would say a bad word about him because he is so driven and determined and as players you want to know if you do the right things you'll be playing each week."

  6. 'Celtic aren't getting a nobody' - McGowanpublished at 13:25 British Summer Time 10 June 2021

At the time of Celtic's approach for Ange Postecoglou, BBC Scotland spoke to Australian defender Ryan McGowan, who says the new Parkhead boss is a master of motivation and a "meticulous" manager.

"Celtic aren't getting a nobody just because people haven't heard of him," McGowan told BBC Scotland. "If fans do some research on his style and approach, I'm pretty sure they'll be happy.

"He has had success everywhere he's been and he's definitely one of the best coaches that I've worked with."

In response to the Yokohama F Marino statement, Ange Postecoglou paid tribute to the club by stating he "will always be part of the Marinos family".

"Words cannot express the feeling of gratitude I have towards everyone involved at the football club," says the new Celtic boss.

"From the board of directors to the staff, this special group of players, and finally the most passionate supporters in the country, everyone has given me the best support any manager could want.

"When I arrived my vision was to make Yokohama F Marinos the most talked about team in Japan. I wanted to have success but also play football that would make everyone proud of our football club.

"We played some brilliant football at times and never stopped trying to improve in every area. We have had players represent the national team and others follow their dreams in Europe."

  9. 'His legacy will forever remain' - Marinos on Postecogloupublished at 12:59 British Summer Time 10 June 2021

Ange Postecoglou will be leaving Japanese side Yokohama F Marinos to join Celtic, and the J-League club have released this heartfelt farewell message...

"The club wish 'Boss' nothing but the best on his new challenge in his football management career. He will always be part of the Marinos family.

Gaz Stevo: "Great appointment. Ange always plays entertaining football."

Niall Lavery: "Great appointment, should have been Celtic's number-one choice before Eddie Howe. Will have good knowledge of young players in Australia and Japan that are cheap for Celtic to take a punt on."

David Gallagher: "Ange's appointment shows some out-the-box thinking. Sadly, also shows how many think football begins and ends in Europe - especially the UK. What did Eddie Howe have that some people consider so much more important than Ange?"

Celtic fans, do you agree with these points?

  12. 'Coverage in Australia is massive' - Raepublished at 12:38 British Summer Time 10 June 2021

    Tyrone Smith
    BBC Sport Scotland

Ex-Rangers man Rae goes on to say that Postecoglou is "well equipped" to make the big decisions.

"When he first went to one of the A-League clubs, he was getting rid of people who were favourites and senior players to start that transformation," Rae says.

On the coverage it has ben receiving in Postecoglou's homeland, Rae adds: "Australians over here are absolutely delighted to see one of their own going and getting that role.

"An Australian coach getting an opportunity at such a big club is a massive tick in the box for all the coaches in Australia who are trying to make a name for themselves.

"The excitement and the coverage it has got over in Australia is massive, and quite rightly because he is a big coach that has gone to a huge club."

  13. Postecoglou knows how to deal with 'scrutiny' - Raepublished at 12:29 British Summer Time 10 June 2021

    Tyrone Smith
    BBC Sport Scotland

Former Scotland midfielder Gavin Rae, who is now based in Australia, says Ange Postecoglou's "transformative" style will "suit Celtic".

"He changes everything towards what he wants and plays expansive football," Rae says. "But obviously with looking for success as well and that is what he has had."

Ex-Rangers man Rae believes Postecoglou has what it takes to deal with the pressure of the "Glasgow goldfish bowl"

"It is a huge club, it is a massive goldfish bowl in Glasgow as well and there is a lot of pressure that comes with it.

"What I would say is he is very experienced now. He has been coaching for a long time, he has had the national team job as well where there is a lot of scrutiny, so he has gone through that already."

  15. 'Signings will be making or breaking'published at 12:09 British Summer Time 10 June 2021

    Tom English
    BBC Scotland's chief sports writer

The scale of the job at Celtic is enormous, bigger than all of his predecessors since Martin O'Neill and possibly before. All eyes are now on big Ange. His signings will be the making, or breaking, of him.

One question has been answered but so many others remain. Is he being afforded the chance to bring in some of his own trusted people? You'd hope so. Postecoglou can't know the football market in this part of the world. He needs help in reshaping the Celtic team. He's in, but who else is coming with him?

  16. 'Clever, progressive & a risk-taker' - Roxburgh on Postecogloupublished at 12:01 British Summer Time 10 June 2021

Former Scotland manager Andy Roxburgh, through his role as a technical director with the Asian Football Confederation, has met Postecoglou "on a number of occasions".

Roxburgh offers insight on the 55-year-old's qualities, telling BBC Scotland: “He is a very strong personality and clearly that will be advantageous in his role at Celtic.

“I would describe him as clever, progressive, very much a risk-taker. He really wants to push forward and play in a very attractive way but at the same time trying to win the games.

Roxburgh describes Postecoglou as "adaptable" and "progressive"

“He’s also proved to be very adaptable – proved by the fact he left Australia and went to the J-League in Japan.

“The J-League has been developing over the years, it’s really quite a tough contest now, and the fact he went there and won the title with Yokohama underlines that he is capable of adapting to different environments.

“I’m sure he’s thrilled to be doing this – he always struck me as someone who is very ambitious."

  18. Postecoglou on his father's influence & a Celtic iconpublished at 11:45 British Summer Time 10 June 2021

One of the standout quotes from Ange Postecoglou's first interview as the new Parkhead boss is that he had posters of a certain Celtic legend on his wall as a kid...

"When I was growing up I had Kenny Dalglish posters all over my wall," he says.

"I’ve had a real passion for the game from a really young age. That was thrust upon me by my father, he loved the entertainers.

"I knew the moment I started my coaching career that I wanted to produce football teams that my father would like to watch."

On Dominic's point - what's next on the list, Celtic fans?

Of course, a director of football still needs to be appointed - who do you want to see in that role?

And who do you want in Postecoglou's backroom team?

Do John Kennedy and Gavin Strachan still have a place?

No mention of any of the above in Celtic's statement today...
