Manchester United's back-up goalkeeper Tom Heaton is already feeling a little peckish, chopping on a banana while sitting in the dugout.

He might have to get used to having a picnic this season.

Yes, flags from the assistant referees are going up early when players are clearly offside, rather than the ridiculous ruling of last season when they were told to keep them down.

First shot at goal but it is a very comfortable save for Illan Meslier, throwing his cap on Mason Greenwood's scuffed effort from 30 yards out.

A clever flick from Bruno Fernandes sliced Leeds right open in the middle of the park, missing the presence of Kalvin Phillips already.

    "Keeperrr'ssssss!"

Manchester United have won a couple of early corners, Illan Meslier comes flying out to punch away the first before grasping cleanly the next.

Excellent goalkeeping from the young Frenchman, who signed a new deal at Elland Road this week.

Raphael Varane has just gone into the centre of the pitch to hold a Manchester United shirt up with the number 19 on the back.

The Frenchman received a huge welcome, although judging by what they sang, the Leeds fans don't know who he is.

There would be a small amount of players that would have enjoyed having no fans in the stadium. Without that pressure of when they make a mistake, they don't feel the crowd on their back. There are one or two might have enjoyed it.

But I think the vast majority as fans and as players would all agree that it's very different without fans. Last season was long and hard for us going to watch matches and who knows what it was like for the players having to turn up every single week with no fans in the stadium

We got off to a great start at Brentford last night in terms of the atmosphere, of what it is going to be like in stadiums again this season. It gave us so much to look forward and by the sounds of it, it's going to be very similar at Old Trafford.

Leeds are winless in 16 top-flight away fixtures versus Manchester United since a 1-0 triumph in February 1981 (D6, L10).

Their 1-0 win at Old Trafford in 1970 is the only previous meeting in the opening match of a top-flight campaign.
