    FT: Brentford 3-3 Liverpool

    Brentford

Brentford manager Thomas Frank speaking to Sky Sports: "We went toe-to-toe with one of the best teams in Europe. We have a well-earned point and were very brave throughout the game.

"Where Liverpool are the most dangerous, is on the counter-attacks and they are committing so many runners forward. We also want to go high and be brave but at times we were a little bit too open.

"Both teams wanted to go for the win. We all know it's a massive point for us against a top team but we wanted to go for the win and Liverpool will go for the win always.

"In general we wanted to play a bit more but we were playing against one of the best pressing teams in England and Europe."

Brentford manager Thomas Frank speaking to BBC Sport: "If we could bottle this up then [there's] no problem with the petrol crisis. We played brave with big determination throughout the game. Second half, when they went 2-1 up, we stayed in the game and then in the end we maybe could have won the game. I felt at times it was a little bit too open but we need to look into that.

"Very, very pleased that we were able to score three goals. A lot of teams haven't created many chances against them. We managed to capitalise today and I'm very pleased with that. We tried to play, to attack. I believe if you play offensive and if you are attacking there's a bigger chance to get a result."

On goalkeeper David Raya's save to deny Diogo Jota: "Fantastic save. I said to him earlier he's been really good in the first five games but we need some big saves from you today if we're going to get something from the game. He stepped up today."

  6. 'We fought hard and we had to'published at 20:01 British Summer Time 25 September 2021

    FT: Brentford 3-3 Liverpool

    Liverpool

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp speaking to Match of the Day: "We did our bit. We played really good football, created incredible chances. We scored three, should have scored four, five, six but they deserved their three goals and could have had four. They did very well and that's why they deserve the result. The atmosphere was incredible and they fought really hard. We fought as well. But we have to be ready for a proper fight because they make a fight of it. We were, but we lost too many challenges in the air and that lost us momentum.

"How the boys played together tonight - I like that a lot. We played a good game. The boys didn't think that we must be superior in all situations. We fought hard and we had to. With the ball I was really happy with the performance. When the ball was in the air, not so much."

On whether Brentford are the best newly-promoted Premier League side: "For different reasons, yes. They are really good. The goalkeeper could have the shirt with number 10. He played a few incredible balls but it was the right thing to do against us today. Nothing to moan about."

James Francis: Think we all know who'll win the league after today!

Ilyas: Brentford at home are the new Stone away.

Alex: Wow! What a league we have this year! Brentford such good value & precisely the sort of team we love to see in the Prem. Amazing entertainment and if we’re dropping points to anyone let it be Brentford, well played.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp speaking to Sky Sports: "[I'm] not sure enjoy is the right word. It was a wild ride. They deserved their three goals for the way they played. We obviously couldn't deal with the long balls today but we should have scored more goals.

"They deserved it. I don't think you can control them much better, we created a lot of clear-cut chances but couldn't deal with them defensively. These things happen. We should have scored more. If we win 3-2 or 4-3 we still have these struggles defensively. Toney and Mbuemo did really well. Brentford deserved a point.

"I have no problem with accepting when you play this kind of football. That's football. You have to create things to deserve to win. They deserved a point as well because they put up a proper fight. I respect that a lot. In the end there were situations we should do better - and then it could be a completely different game. Their goalie should have number 10 on his shirt with the balls that he played."

On Mohamed Salah reaching 100 Premier League goals for Liverpool: "I'm sure Mo sees it the same way, he would love to have 101 today. There were many good moments football-wise against a tricky set-up but we could not defend when the goalie chips the balls forward."

  10. 'It was a crazy game'published at 19:47 British Summer Time 25 September 2021

    FT: Brentford 3-3 Liverpool

    Brentford

Brentford goalkeeper David Raya speaking to Match of the Day: "It was a crazy game. We went toe-to-toe. They had their spells but we played really well and were solid and it was a great game for the neutrals as well.

"It's tough. We showed the character that the team has coming back from behind twice and the willingness that the whole team has to get some points in this division.

"I'm there to help the team. It's part of my job. I'm not happy to concede three goals but these things happen especially against one of the best teams in the world.

"We are a team that like to play. Today we played a little more direct but we have a good style of football and that's why people like to watch us play."

Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson speaking to Sky Sports: "It was an intense game, we knew it would be. It's a difficult place to come. It was a great atmosphere and they made it difficult for us. To go in the lead twice and not see it out is disappointing for us.

"At 2-1 up we had one or two chances to finish the game off. It gives them that little bit of hope. That's football sometimes, we're disappointed with the result but we have to give credit to Brentford.

"We're an intense team as well but there's a lot of room for improvement for us today. We controlled it a little bit better in the second half but unfortunately we couldn't hold on for the win."

On Mohamed Salah's 100th Premier League goal for Liverpool: "Incredible moment. He's been incredible ever since he came to the club. He's a fantastic lad."

Brentford goalscorer Vitaly Janelt tells Sky Sports: "It was an incredible crowd today. We draw 3-3 against Liverpool, it's what we dream for as kids. Before the game we said we try the best against Liverpool - one of the best teams in the world - and now we draw 3-3."

On his goal: "I can't believe it. You heard all the fans, it was my first Premier League goal and I'm proud of me.

"Liverpool are one of the best teams in the world and two times in a row they were in front and we came back. We have the mentality to score and maybe with a bit of luck we make it 4-3."

On the fans: "When we win, draw, or lose the fans are every time unbelievable. It's incredible."

On how Brentford are settling into the Premier League: "Now we have two wins, three draws and one loss. Now we have to work more and more and we'll see next week against West Ham."

Jefferson: Have to say Liverpool's defence still looks a little shaky to me...though well done to the Bees. What a performance. Totally deserved a point and very nearly got a popular win.

Andy: What a game! I knew Brentford would give us a game. A two goal lead was what we needed, but even though we dropped points I thoroughly enjoyed that match.

James: A draw seems a fair result. Neither side deserves to lose.
