Not much has happened since the goal hence the glut of Ronaldo stats.

Fred curls a shot high and wide but the whistle had gone so it wouldn't have counted.

People not talking about Bruno Fernandes enough is an interesting take...

Rachel T: Ronaldo, honestly, the man is RIDICULOUS.

Specs: Bruno isn't human, I can only imagine how long we talk about that ball if it's KDB.

    Young Boys 0-1 Man Utd

Cristiano Ronaldo is the first player to score the first Champions League goal in two different seasons.

He also netted the first goal in 2009-10 for Real Madrid in a 5-2 win at FC Zurich.

    Both in Switzerland.

Young Boys are the 36th different team Cristiano Ronaldo has scored against in the Champions League, with no player scoring against more (also Lionel Messi on 36).

    He gets that one chance.

It is a fabulous ball with the outside of his foot by Fernandes right into the centre of the box. Ronaldo comes onto it and side foots it, he doesn't get that good of a connection but Von Ballmoos just can't keep it out.

That was only Cristiano Ronaldo's sixth touch of the game - fewer than any United outfield player.

    Cristiano Ronaldo

Cristiano Ronaldo - officially good at scoring goals.

Bruno Fernandes plays a lovely ball over the top with the outside of his foot and Ronaldo sneaks in behind to put the ball through the keeper's legs from eight yards.

David von Ballmoos gets a touch and the ball spins just over the line.

Meschak Elia is a proper livewire in these early moments. He runs onto a crossfield ball, bamboozles Victor Lindelof with some quick feet and flashes a ball across the six-yard box which nobody is there to turn home.

I think that is the correct decision. It is a foul, Van de Beek has just caught him slightly. You don't need to set the tone so early with a yellow card, the challenge didn't need it.

The home fans aren't happy as Donny van de Beek avoids a booking for a mistimed tackle on Nicolas Moumi Ngamaleu.

    Young Boys 0-0 Man Utd

United have just started to get the game under control after a decent start for the hosts. They have a good run of possession in midfield and the ball won't quite drop for Bruno Fernandes or Jadon Sancho in the box.

There was a bit of a concerning incident before the game started, as a steward was hit by a ball during the warm-up.

It may have come from a Cristiano Ronaldo shot - regardless how it happened, the Portuguese hopped over the barrier to check if they were OK.

Against my will, the five-a-side team I played for in the BBC Birmingham Super League a few years ago was called Young Boys Begley.

A colleague even managed a photoshopped crest.

Good defending by Victor Lindelof this time to stop a Vincent Sierro through ball just as it looked as if there was a gap.

Jadon Sancho almost gets a cross under control in the box but it runs away from him and keeper David von Ballmoos slides onto the ball.
