    A quiet day then.

Just a first ever win for a Moldovan side in the Champions League, Jude Bellingham becoming the youngest player to score in consecutive Champions League games, Erling Braut Haaland becoming the fastest player to score 21 goals in the tournament, Lionel Messi making his first Paris St-Germain start, Manchester City winning 6-3 with Leipzig's Christopher Nkunku scoring a hat-trick, Liverpool coming from behind to beat Milan 3-2 in a thriller, Sebastien Haller becoming the second player to score four goals on his Champions League debut, Real Madrid scoring a late winner against Inter Milan and one goalless draw.

    Pat Nevin
Former Scotland winger on BBC Radio 5 Live

I've played in games where we've been the better team and lost 4-0, it can happen in football. You have to be able to react to nights when things like that happen - Liverpool reacted. They did the right thing.

They didn't look like a Champions League-winning team tonight, but they didn't need to win the competition tonight, they just need to get through.

  5. 'We did enough to win it'published at 23:09 British Summer Time 15 September 2021

    FT: Club Bruges 1-1 PSG

PSG midfielder Ander Herrera: "We didn't play fantastically, but I thought we did enough to win it even if we lacked clear-cut chances. We controlled the game. But it's the Champions League, the other teams are very good."

Defender Presnel Kimpembe: "It's the Champions League, we came up against a very good Bruges side even if we didn't play our football. We took a point though and the key thing is that we didn't lose. You have to respect everyone, even if we know that on paper we have a great side. You have to show it on the pitch."

  6. 'It is something I work on'published at 23:07 British Summer Time 15 September 2021

    FT: Liverpool 3-2 AC Milan

    Liverpool

Liverpool midfielder Jordan Henderson, speaking to BT Sport: "I'm sure it was good for the neutrals. It has been a while in the Champions League without fans so to have them back was nice.

"We started the game really well, on the front foot like we usually do. Scored, got the penalty and then last 15 minutes of the first half we had a spell where we found it difficult and they scored two goals. I thought the lads reacted really well and came out and started again.

"We got our reward, got back into it and found the winner. Overall I am delighted. We have to learn from that 15 minutes too.

"It was nice to get back on the scoresheet, I don't score many. It is something I work on, especially when I play a bit further forward as an eight - arriving in the box."

    FT: Man City 6-3 Leipzig

  12. 'A game that will make us grow'published at 22:50 British Summer Time 15 September 2021

    FT: Liverpool 3-2 AC Milan

    Liverpool

Milan coach Stefano Pioli, talking to Sky Italia: “Liverpool played a great game especially in the first 25 minutes. Then we overturned it, the regret is the two goals conceded in the second half, also due to our mistakes. It was a game that will make us grow a lot in terms of intensity and quality.

"The team was motivated, we expected a strong start from our opponents but we were too static. The environment, the game, the quality of the opponent created some difficulties for us. We go home with the awareness that the team can grow and that the Champions League level is really high, we will have to try even harder.

"They pressed very hard and we struggled a bit with the ball early on. The thing we regret is that besides the undeniable quality of Liverpool, we know how to do better and we will work to do better. Usually we are much more careful, we could have defended better ."

  13. PSG wait on Mbappe injury newspublished at 22:47 British Summer Time 15 September 2021

    FT: Club Bruges 1-1 PSG

PSG boss Mauricio Pochettino on Kylian Mbappe's ankle injury: "We don't know how serious it is. Tests are going to have to clarify that so we hope to bring an update as soon as possible.

"Nobody in the team can be happy with their performance and nobody can be happy with this result. We came here to take points. All the points. Hats off to Club Bruges. They wanted it more than us tonight and they deserve the point.

"We need time to work for them [Lionel Messi, Neymar and Mbappe] to build an understanding. That's been clear and we've said that in recent days. We still have to create a team.

"We didn't have a good evening. We have to stay calm, keep working and take the time we need. Things will get better."

  14. 'It's kind of a dream'published at 22:42 British Summer Time 15 September 2021

    FT: Sporting 1-5 Ajax

Ajax's four-goal hero Sebastien Haller to Uefa.com: "I still don't believe it. It's kind of a dream. I couldn't expect more than this. I am just happy and trying to enjoy tonight.

"I just tried to be not too emotional because being so young and playing these kind of games it's a dream, so I was just focused on doing my job, focusing on the other team, tactically, physically and today I thank to my team-mates for all this."

  15. 'That is our pick from pot four! AC Milan!'published at 22:38 British Summer Time 15 September 2021

    FT: Liverpool 3-2 AC Milan

    Liverpool

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp, speaking to BT Sport: "We started incredibly well. We played a super, super game. An intense game but football wise as well. We played in all the spaces we had to play and didn't give them anything until... I'm not sure exactly. We got punished for it in the last few minutes of the first-half but it started earlier. We got carried away by our own football. We didn't keep it simple anymore, offensively and defensively we were not organised anymore. When we are organised, Fabinho is incredible and he can pick up all the challenges we need him for. When the spaces are too big even he cannot solve it anymore. They played inbetween and scored two goals. But it did not feel like we cannot come back. It was clear that we had to immediately get back to how we started and then we scored wonderful goals, to be honest. Both were incredible. It is deserved but we had 10 minutes where Milan nearly changed the whole tie.

"It is the football I want to see in most moments. We are experienced in the competition, or should be. It was a little bit the changes as well that we just weren't compact anymore. Now we won I can say that the changes was the right thing to do because playing every three days is just not possible with the same guys. The guys who came on did incredibly well.

"Divock played a superb game. He had cramps which is normal. But people forget how good he is. It is difficult to get him in this team. We all thought in the summer offers would come but clearly people do not watch football enough.

"That is our pick from pot four. AC Milan in a really good moment. It is a tough group. That is why it is important we won this game. It does not decide anything but it gave us a winning start."

  16. 'Leipzig play all or nothing'published at 22:30 British Summer Time 15 September 2021

    FT: Man City 6-3 Leipzig

    Manchester City

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola to BT Sport: "Leipzig never give up. They have a special way to attack. They play all or nothing.

"You never have the feeling it's over. We scored a few minutes after they scored [a few times] and it helped us a lot.

"They have a young team, so aggressive, so strong. A fantastic team. Leipzig give a good message to football. The quality of the players was better today and that's why we won.

"We scored 16 goals in the last three games here. I'd like more people to come on Saturday. We will be tired. Southampton are so dangerous. I invite all our people to come 3pm to watch our game."

  19. 'I didn't have much to do'published at 22:22 British Summer Time 15 September 2021

    FT: Club Bruges 1-1 PSG

Club Bruges keeper Simon Mignolet: "I didn't really have much work to do. We played very well collectively.

"We didn't give an incredible attack chances. You cannot mark them one-on-one, they have so much quality to beat their man.

"We tried to defend collectively to not leave them any space. I made two, three saves, not very difficult ones at that."

  20. Postpublished at 22:18 British Summer Time 15 September 2021

    FT: Man City 6-3 Leipzig

Leipzig's Christopher Nkunku was tonight's Uefa player of the match.

Uefa technical observer Gareth Southgate - presumably the Gareth Southgate - said: "A well-taken hat-trick away from home in the Champions League against high-level opponents."
