Trevor Gladwin: Kai Havertz has not got nearly enough minutes this season. Wonderful player.

Lille's corners have caused some angst for Chelsea.

This time Amadou Onana meets Jonathan Bamba's cross but cannot replicate Kai Havertz's effort at the other end and nods wide.

    Villarreal 0-1 Juventus

Dusan Vlahovic (22 years, 25 days) is the second youngest player to score on their Champions League debut for Juventus after Alessandro del Piero (20 years 308 days).

It is the first time Juventus have scored in the first minute of a Champions League game since October 1997 against Manchester United (Del Piero).

Vlahovic's goal was the earliest goal in a Champions League knockout stage match since David Alaba for Bayern Munich - against Juventus - in April 2013.

Lille are having a decent spell of pressure and it's Jonathan of the Bamba variety who finds room in the box but sees his shot blocked by Thiago Silva.

Jonathan of the David assortment then blazes a shot over the bar from range.

Havertz has started like a house on fire. It's a brilliant delivery, outswinging, Havertz is unmarked six yards out, gets up and he nods it down.

The goalkeeper is fuming as he is unmarked. You can't give him that time and space. Chelsea totally deserved that.

It has been a brilliant start from Chelsea and Lille don't know what has hit them.

    Chelsea 1-0 Lille

Lille get in behind Chelsea's backline for the first time.

Turkey international Zeki Celik finds space down the right but sees his low cross cut out by Thiago Silva.

In the next move, Renato Sanches' delivery almost draws an own goal from Antonio Rudiger, whose sprawling interception sees the ball loop over Edouard Mendy and onto the roof of the net.

    Villarreal 0-1 Juventus

Juventus seem to be playing a back five and not a 4-4-2 as the graphics showed earlier. Juan Cuadrado at right wing-back does well to deny Villarreal a corner.

I think they might have started with a back four but then had a lead to defend after 32 seconds...

    Kai Havertz (7 mins)

    He gets his goal.

Not renowned for his heading is he?

Kai Havertz missed two chances but gobbles up his third, leaping to meet Hakim Ziyech's corner and planting a header which bounces off the turf and into the roof of the net.

Thomas Tuchel enjoys that, furiously punching the air in delight.

  19. CLOSE!published at 20:05 Greenwich Mean Time 22 February 2022

    Chelsea 0-0 Lille

That's a bad miss from Kai Havertz and Chelsea really should lead.

Cesar Azpilicueta plays in a delightful low cross into the six yards box, Germany international Havertz is unmarked but side-foots his first-time shot over the crossbar.

Looked harder to put it over than put it into the back of the net.

Chelsea right on the front foot in the opening minute, with Kai Havertz looking to bundle through but is halted in the box by Sven Botman.

The much talked about Sven Botman.
