The 21-year-old has had two loan spells at Swansea after coming through Chelsea's youth system, during which he helped the Swans reach the Championship play-offs.

If he can continue to improve and build on his clear promise then Chelsea's loss could very much prove to be Palace's gain.

Leicester have a crop of talented full-backs, but most are right-footed, making left-back Ryan Bertrand look a very astute signing from Southampton.

They have not paid a fee and have acquired a very experienced defender with a Champions League winners medal in his collection and seven seasons of regular first-team football at St Mary's under his belt.

At 31, he still has a fair few campaigns in him yet to do the business while Luke Thomas develops.

    Everton to Watford, free

    Joshua KingImage source, Getty Images

Along with the capture of Peter Etebo, Watford also confirmed the capture of striker Joshua King on a free transfer in early July.

With no fee involved, this could prove to be a decent bit of business by the Hornets for a player who saw his playing time limited at Everton last season but had enough pedigree to have a few big clubs looking at signing him from Bournemouth after they were relegated two summers ago.

At 29, the Norway international still has plenty to offer. Watford will hope it can be the kind of form that twice saw him score 12+ Premier League goals for the Cherries.

It would be fair to say that Nigeria international Peter Etebo's move to Stoke has not gone entirely to plan. Since joining for £6.35m in 2018, the summer after the Potters were relegated to the Championship, he has been out on loan thee times, including this temporary switch to Watford.

Another exit from the Nou Camp, as Barcelona look to rectify their financial situation., external

Leeds have long required a specialist left-back with both the uber-versatile Stuart Dallas (now more of a central midfielder) and Ezgjan Alioski (now departed) filling the spot last season.

Former Spain Under-21 international Junior Firpo impressed at Real Betis but struggled to get regular football at Barca, with Jordi Alba in front of him in the pecking order.

If the 24-year-old can rediscover his Betis form at Elland Road, the Whites could have a player on their hands.

    Barcelona to Wolves, loan

    Francisco TrincaoImage source, Getty Images

Barcelona's financial issues are well documented and it looks as though Wolves may be one the beneficiaries.

Francisco Trincao was not a regular in Barca's side last season, but still made 28 league appearances, scoring three goals and providing two assists, and seven Champions League outings. He is quick, direct and at 21 has plenty of time on his side to improve.

It is a loan deal to start with but includes a "a non-compulsory option to buy" at the end of the season. Win-win, right?

    Chelsea to Norwich, loan

    Billy GilmourImage source, Getty Images

Billy Gilmour's stock is sky high, especially in the United Kingdom, after his impressive display for Scotland against England at Wembley in Euro 2020.

The 20-year-old has senior appearances for Chelsea under his belt but with the likes of Jorginho, Mateo Kovacic and N'Golo Kante ahead of him in the Stamford Bridge central midfield pecking order, the Blues clearly feel his development is best served with regular football elsewhere.

Enter newly-promoted Norwich, who have a gap to fill in the middle and a progressive manager looking to give Gilmour the chance he needs to shine.
