Having spent most of last season struggling with central defensive issues because of injuries to key players, Liverpool moved quickly this summer to bring in reinforcement in the shape of Ibrahima Konate.

The 22-year-old French Under-21 international, who started his career in France with Sochaux, made 21 appearances for RB Leipzig this season as they finished second in the Bundesliga.

Reds boss Jurgen Klopp says Konate has already impressed in training and could well form a formidable centre-back pairing with a fit-again Virgil van Dijk. Unless you think otherwise?

Patson Daka joins Leicester with an impressive amount of accolades and stats under his belt for such a young man.

The 22-year-old scored 27 goals in 28 appearances last season to help Red Bull Salzburg win their fourth successive Austrian league title last season, in which he was also named the Austrian Bundesliga's player of the season.

He has scored seven goals in 22 international appearances and was named the Confederation of African Football's Young Player of the Year in 2017.

    Sounds pretty good, right?

After signing 20-year-old central defender Collins from Stoke, Burnley chairman Alan Pace described him as "one of the most promising players in the country". That's a big tag.

Potters academy graduate Collins made 49 first-team appearances for Stoke - including 39 in the Championship - and became their youngest captain when he led the side against Leeds in early 2019-20.

He will have the chance to learn under Ben Mee and James Tarkowski before attempting to live up to the big hype.

Another player going back to familiar haunts is goalkeeper Angus Gunn, who was a youth player at Carrow Road and spent a season on loan at the club in 2017-18.

Son of Canaries great Bryan, who was also a goalkeeper, he returns to City from Southampton, where he had made just 30 appearances since 2018.

Tim Krul is Norwich's current number one, but Gunn will go there hoping to push him hard for a starting spot.

Wolves' first summer signing was that of 20-year-old Colombian centre-back Mosquera from Atletico National on a five-year deal.

The club seem very happy with the capture, describing him as "very athletic, very aggressive, very competitive". They also suggest they beat off interest from other Premier League clubs to the signing.

It has the hallmarks of 'one for the future', but with a new manager at Molineux he will have the same chance to make a lasting first impression.

Danny Rose has somewhat lost his way of late, after having spent a number of seasons as a regular in Tottenham's starting XI and within the England squad.

Watford have given him the security of a two-year deal to try and find his feet again in the top-flight.

The left-back failed to make an appearance for Spurs last season, spending the campaign training with Tottenham's Under-23s. He last featured in the top flight in July 2020 while on loan at Newcastle.

The pedigree is there but does the appetite remain?

There was a time when striker Ashley Fletcher was in high demand, with suitors lining up to take the player away from first club Manchester United.

His career has not perhaps reached the heights some expected. After joining Middlesbrough from West Ham for £6.5m in 2017, he scored 28 goals in 108 appearances, although only one of those came last season because of injury.

He now gets another shot at the Premier League with newly-promoted Watford.

He has, of course, played in the Premier League before, contributing one goal and seven assists as City were relegated in 2019-20.
