That was agonising. Caoimhin Kelleher was moving the wrong way and stuck his leg out but couldn't reach it. The shot hit the inside of the post and rolled the wrong side of the line.

  2. HITS THE WOODWORKpublished at 50 mins

    Chelsea 0-0 Liverpool

Mason Mount misses another unbelievable chance!

Christian Pulisic clips a ball over the defence and Mount ghosts in. He has all the time and space in the world and takes a couple of touches to set himself before shooting off the base of the post from 14 yards out.

Ooooh. Kai Havertz is picked out by Christian Pulisic and plays a lovely ball acoss the six-yard box. Nobody is there. If only Chelsea had a striker - maybe a £97.5m one - tp tap in.

As Mane ages he blows hot and cold. Poor control, distribution, diving, a big miss and conceded possession for the Mount chance. Today he's cold.

I don't think Dom at 17.07 understands that the whole point of football is to try to win trophies. If you're in a cup final you pick a team to win. If Chelsea were playing a team from League One today then Tuchel could pick anyone in the squad, but they're playing one of the best teams in the world.

  9. 'It has been an exciting game'published at 17:23 Greenwich Mean Time 27 February 2022

    HT: Chelsea 0-0 Liverpool

    Jonathan Woodgate
Former England defender on BBC Radio 5 Live

Both goalkeepers have made crucial saves at important moments in the game. Kelleher with the first one, then Mendy with an outrageous double-save. [Tuchel and Klopp] will probably be congratulating each other on how good the game has been. It has been the way football should be played; with intensity, people wanting to get on the ball and run in behind. Both teams have been outstanding.

Two shots on target each in that half.

Edouard Mendy made a great double save to deny Naby Keita and especially Sadio Mane.

And Caoimhin Kelleher made a good stop to deny Christian Pulisic, who shouldn't have given him a chance really.

  11. HALF-TIMEpublished at 17:16 Greenwich Mean Time 27 February 2022

The half-time whistle goes. Both sides have had big chances to score but it's goalless.

    Chelsea 0-0 Liverpool

Mason Mount misses a sitter! A sitter!

Christian Pulisic runs forward and finds Kai Havertz on the right. He clips a ball into the box and there is Mount unmarked, about 10 yards out. Somehow he doesn't even hit the target.

He looks across desperate to see an offside flag but nope that would have counted.

Chelsea fans call for a free-kick as Trent Alexander-Arnold cuts out a cross and Caoimhin Kelleher catches but it wasn't an intentional backpass.

Kante again, there again putting fires out. That is what he does; senses danger. He sees it, and deals with it.

    Both wing-backs involved for Chelsea.

Marcos Alonso crosses and Liverpol can't clear with Kai Havertz laying it off for Cesar Azpilicueta who hammers a rising shot over from 20 yards.

  16. Postpublished at 40 mins

    Chelsea 0-0 Liverpool

Liverpool think Cesar Azpilicueta should have been booked for fouling Luis Diaz.

Anyway, they have their fifth corner of the game but it's headed away.

  17. Postpublished at 39 mins

    Chelsea 0-0 Liverpool

First non-offside Chelsea chance in ages. Kai Havertz plays in Christian Pulisic dwn the right and his shot from a bit of an ambitious angle is clawed away by Caoimhin Kelleher.

Kepa almost definitely would not have made that double save but it cannot be good for squad morale to drop him for the final. Indicative of how managers only think of the game in front of them these days, no long term planning.
