Not sure even Pep or Tuchel could save this Watford team, let alone Ranieri, they look so out of their depth so far it's unreal. I hope people have triple captained Salah today in their fantasy teams. Could be a bumper weekend for him.

Watford manage to clear the latest Liverpool attack but it's hoofed straight up to Virgil van Dijk, who coolly takes it down and sets off Joel Matip.

    Watford 0-1 Liverpool

    It's so easy for Liverpool.

Roberto Firmino drops deep to pick the ball up in space. It comes to Sadio Mane and his cross almost falls for James Milner.

He leaves it and Mohamed Salah's shot is blocked by Danny Rose.

Watford have still not got started. A rough start for Claudio Ranieri and no free dinners for the team after failing to keep a clean sheet.

James Milner's pass rockets off Naby Keita but Watford concede a throw-in on the right touchline.

Mohamed Salah had found space a couple of times already even before that goal.

Danny Rose just wasn't getting near enough to him and was nudged off the ball far too easily by the Egyptian.

A brilliant curling pass for the finish as well.

It has been all Liverpool. Watford left themselves exposed. It was like a training ground goal, Mo Salah did his work and a brilliant finish by Mane.

    Watford 0-1 Liverpool

Mohamed Salah is unplayable at the moment.

Every single time he gets the ball, he's dangerous.

He has it on the edge of the box, shifts it onto his left foot and curls it towards the far corner. Ben Foster has to tip it behind for a corner.

Sadio Mane becomes the 31st player to score 100 Premier League goals.

He becomes the third African player to reach this landmark, after Didier Drogba (104) and Mohamed Salah (103).

    100 for Sadio Mane!

It's a beautiful assist from Mohamed Salah too. Straight from the Watford goal kick, it's won in the air by Liverpool and played to Salah.

He curls it across the centre with the outside of his boot and Mane takes it in his stride, slotting it into the bottom left corner.

Perfect placement, perfect pass and a perfect start for Liverpool.

They've got van Dijk back, Salah is in great form, they've got a great squad. Maybe we forgot about them last season because of the way things went, but once they get everyone fit, they'll be there or there abouts. It feels like the Liverpool of a couple of years ago.

Getting the ball is Watford's biggest challenge so far. Liverpool have completely dominated.

Roberto Firmino's latest pass rolls harmlessly wide of James Milner and out for a Watford goal kick.

Watford will have the same game plan as Brentford. Load the right side and try to win the second ball. Against AA you always have a chance to score.

"Fluid" formation is what Claudio Ranieri said to expect and so far that's what we're seeing.

It looks like a back four and a traditional 4-4-2 out of possession but Ismaila Sarr is drifting into a central position in a front three when they do get the ball. Juan Hernandez to his left and Emmanuel Dennis to his right.

    Andy Reid
Ex-Republic of Ireland midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live

As a manager, you need a short-term, medium-term and long-term plan. Short-term you need to get results, medium is to get the team playing the way you want them to play, long-term is about recruitment. The problem you've got is most managers don't get to complete the medium-term plan, and that isn't just Watford.

Claudio Ranieri had a long chat with Jurgen Klopp when he came out of the tunnel.

When I spoke to Ranieri on Wednesday, he said this was one of the toughest first games he could have had.
