  1. Chelsea remember Hardingpublished at 12:23 British Summer Time 23 October 2021

    Chelsea v Norwich (12:30 BST)

Today is a poignant day at Stamford Bridge as Chelsea remember Matthew Harding.

The Blues vice-chairman, and lifelong fan, died in a helicopter crash as he flew home from a game at Bolton in 1996.

Harding's face has just flashed up in a video on the big screen to a great ovation and his memory will be honoured with a minute’s applause , externalbefore kick-off.

    Lawro's predictions

This is top versus bottom and, even though Chelsea will be without injured duo Romelu Lukaku and Timo Werner, there is only going to be one outcome here.

Norwich just cannot score goals - they have only managed two in their first eight games - and they are up against the joint-meanest defence in the division.

If there was going to be a game that Chelsea would pick to be without Lukaku and Werner, it would be this one.

    Prediction: 2-0

Although if Norwich do get thrashed then I hope he's got a roll neck in his bag. He might get some stick from gleeful Chelsea fans on the way home.

Absolutely zero chance of anything other than a comfortable Chelsea win. Wouldn't be surprised if the match report is already written and they'll just put the scorers names in later.

    It definitely isn't, Dan!

    Andy Reid
Ex-Republic of Ireland midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live

I can't see Norwich getting anything from this game. I think they'll do well to score a goal. They've only scored one in their last six and Chelsea will be on the front foot right from the word go; it is going to be a really tough game. I don't see how they're going to impact it.

Let's head back to the Bridge then. The stands are starting to fill up nicely with 15 minutes to go until kick-off.

Still plenty of time to grab a Bovril downstairs. In fact, do they still do Bovril at the ground? Or is it shakes and bubble tea these days?

Afterwards, Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta praised Emile Smith Rowe for changing his lifestyle after the 21-year-old midfielder was instrumental in the win.

"When you want to take the game to the next level, when you become a real important player in such a big club, that should be the only priority and every detail is important and relevant," said Arteta.

"You have to make him aware of that, you cannot give percentages away that can make big differences and he has changed that.

"There is no complaining, he is just looking forwards, he is really determined, he has changed the way he is living as well a little bit and some of the habits that he had and he's been superb."

    Arsenal 3-1 Aston Villa

    Arsenal

The Premier League weekend kicked off early as Arsenal cruised to a thoroughly deserved victory over Aston Villa to move into the top half of the Premier League table.

Thomas Partey headed in Smith Rowe's corner for his first goal for the Gunners - having earlier hit the crossbar.

Right at the end of the first half, Arsenal were given a penalty after a long video assistant referee review for a Matt Targett foul on Alexandre Lacazette.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's penalty was saved excellently by former Arsenal keeper Emiliano Martinez, but the Gabon striker put home the rebound from close range.

Villa improved on a thoroughly wretched first half, but Smith Rowe scored Arsenal's third 11 minutes into the second half.

The visitors got a consolation when Jacob Ramsey curled his first Villa goal into the top corner from 20 yards.

A touching moment as the Norwich players come out for their warm-up.

Each is wearing a dark t-shirt with a message of support for Canaries goalkeeper Dan Barden, who has been diagnosed with testicular cancer.

"Stay strong Dan," is the message on the front, with 'Barden 50' printed on the back.

Norwich keeper Tim Krul also hands a t-shirt to a young fan in the away end.

Our best wishes go to Dan too, of course, and we echo the sentiments from his Norwich team-mates.

Norwich aren't the only ones searching today for that elusive first league win of the season.

Newcastle and Burnley, playing away at Palace and Southampton respectively at 3pm, are the only other top-flight teams without one.

Saints shook off that unwanted tag against Leeds last weekend, while the Whites - home against Wolves - could really do with three points today, too.

Norwich boss Daniel Farke talking to BT Sport: "That is why we love the game so much, nothing is guaranteed. We want to give a top performance and give ourselves a chance.

"The first objective is to be rock solid at the back. Today it won't be that easy but we have a chance."

Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel talking to BT Sport: "It has been the same (being the favourites) the last three matches and we coped well, it has not affected our attitude.

"When we wear the shirt we want to meet the standards. We don't care about being favourites.

"The message is clear - the guys have been waiting a long time for their chance, we have a strong squad. It is a team effort and we have a lot of trust in the quality.

"The way for them to stay in the league is to not concede. Daniel Farke is a very nice guy but I don't want to help him today."
