Cristiano Ronaldo will be on his worst league scoring run in over a decade if he doesn't net today.

He never went five La Liga or Serie A games without a goal for Real Madrid or Juventus.

Spurs v Man Utd (17:30 BST)

    Mark Lawrenson
    BBC football expert

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has got to make United difficult to beat. Forget any flamboyant football for now, they just need to start being more solid.

With the players United have got, they are a counter-attacking team. They need to start playing like one, and soak up the pressure and play on the break.

Don't give me the spiel that just pouring forward is 'the United way' because the game has changed completely from those days. They need to build from back to front and give themselves a proper foundation.

This is a tricky game to approach if you are a manager under pressure like Solskjaer is, but Tottenham are still quite scatty themselves so it would not surprise me if United went there and won.

    Prediction: 1-2

  3. 'Our standards of defending are normally much better'published at 17:19 British Summer Time 30 October 2021

    Burnley 3-1 Brentford

    Brentford

Brentford manager Thomas Frank, speaking to Sky Sports: "Congratulations to Sean Dyche and Burnley. It was almost written in the stars with his ninth anniversary today.

"This is our second bad half in 10 Premier League games. If we continue playing 18 halves [out of 20] that well it won’t be a problem, but of course it’s disappointing. Our standards of defending are normally much better than what we saw today.

"It doesn’t help that they score four minutes into the game, but I thought we got back into the game well.

"I said to them [at half-time] we can’t do anything about the first half. I said we have to be very critical and specific when we look at it on Monday."

  4. 'It was a little bit strange to see a red'published at 17:18 British Summer Time 30 October 2021

FT: Man City 0-2 Crystal Palace

    Manchester City

Manchester City defender Ruben Dias: “The reaction is that we have a game in a short period of time and we are already thinking about it. Today we lost three very important points but it is football. We are not happy but looking forward.

“Today we were not at our best but even so the team fought and gave everything and it was not enough.

“I still haven’t had the chance to watch it back [Aymeric Laporte’s red card] again. It was a little bit strange to see a red. I was walking back thinking it was a yellow. I never thought he [the referee] would go for a red but we have to accept it."

  5. 'A good sign of what we're trying to do'published at 17:17 British Summer Time 30 October 2021

    Burnley 3-1 Brentford

    Burnley

Burnley manager Sean Dyche, speaking to Sky Sports: "We haven’t been far away. We really took the game on in the first half. The performance was good but there were some great finishes as well.

"We like to mix our play. It’s something we’ve attempted to do often in my time in the Premier League. We want to be effective and want to affect games in different ways. Today was a good sign of what we’re trying to be about.

"There was a real determination in the group. Maxwel Cornet has hit the ground running for us. He’s still got things to learn in a positional sense in the Premier League.

"Nick Pope is right back on it as well. His sharpness is where it needs to be."

Speaking from experience as a player, you take on the manager's tactics, but when they're failing in the game and you're someone who can recognise that, I think it's important you take ownership, pull people in.

Manchester United were getting exposed by Liverpool centrally and they went three or four down before they changed things. Maguire, in particular, as captain has to take that leadership responsibility and change things in-game.

  7. 'A good team performance'published at 17:15 British Summer Time 30 October 2021

    Burnley 3-1 Brentford

    Burnley

Burnley manager Sean Dyche, speaking to BBC Match of the Day: "We were a bit nervous in the second half, but the first half was terrific. There was some really good play from us.

"It was a good team performance. I said recently we’re not far away. We’ve got to get the margins right and today we did. We’ve been trying this season to take games on. Our performances have been generally good. Today was a very good performance.

"The fans have been patient and stand by us. They know it’s a challenge or us, but we’ve got all noses pointing in the right direction. We’ve got tough games coming, but they’re all tough."

  8. 'There's a nice belief in the team'published at 17:14 British Summer Time 30 October 2021

    FT: Liverpool 2-2 Brighton

    Brighton & Hove Albion

Brighton manager Graham Potter: "It's a fantastic performance, the players deserve all the credit. They've played with such courage and intensity, it was a fantastic game of football. Both teams went at it, we were toe-to-toe. It's a point for us and a performance we can build on.

"It could have been 3-0 but instead it was 2-1. Those little things need to go your way, but I think our second goal was really well worked. You could tell the crowd was frustrated and that's a sign of how well we were playing.

"It's a fantastic game of football against a wonderful opponent. We're happy with a point, delighted with the performance.

"There's a nice belief in the team, a nice togetherness and resilience. They believe in each other. I'm really pleased because they put so much into that game today."

  9. 'We are exploiting our talent'published at 17:12 British Summer Time 30 October 2021

FT: Man City 0-2 Crystal Palace

    Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace forward Wilfried Zaha: "It was about getting in their faces and not letting them play. We know how good they are, we wanted to show them what we could do.

"I scuffed it but a goal is a goal. I was just buzzing to see it go in so I was happy. Conor Gallagher brings a lot of energy and I needed people to link up with and it makes a mass difference when he helps out.

"I feel like we have had a threat but the difference now is that we keep the ball from the back and build and make our chances. We are exploiting our talent.

On the influence of Patrick Vieira: "He knows what he is talking about and we have all seen him do it. It’s surreal because he was an amazing player. Every player is buying into it and slowly the results will come."

  10. 'He can make the easy things hard and hard things easy'published at 17:10 British Summer Time 30 October 2021

    FT: Watford 0-1 Southampton

    Southampton

Southampton boss Ralph Hasenhuttl, speaking to BBC Match of the Day: "We could have scored more today. We had massive chances. It should be 3-0 or 4-0 at half-time. When it is just one it is a chance for the opponent. The rest of the performance was good but we need to be more clinical. One good save from Alex [McCarthy]. It was a deserved win.

"I cannot remember a lot of times when we are sitting calm at the end of games. That is what it is like being a manager at this club. We have been close to winning away but today it was a good performance. We had massive situations to get more out of it but in the end defence, apart from one tor two situations, was very stable. We had fresh players out there which is a positive.

"It was beautiful goal [from Che Adams]. He had one chance earlier that was easier to score than miss. He sometimes makes the easy things hard and the hard things easy.

"We have a young team and had a few new players. It takes time to adapt. The hard work we put in is now showing. It is right what we do. Every weekend is tough but we knew we had decisive weeks coming up where we have to take points. We have two wins in three games and a good performance."

    Final Score at Anfield

If anybody needed any proof that Graham Potter has what it takes to reach the very top in football management then the second half against Liverpool would work very nicely.

It was like a coaching masterclass at times. Jurgen Klopp’s side were struggling to contain Brighton’s attack with the likes of Lallana, Trossard and March switching positions & causing confusion for Van Dijk and co.

Klopp said it would be tricky and he was proved right.

  12. United go to back three todaypublished at 17:09 British Summer Time 30 October 2021

Tottenham v Man United (17:30 BST)

    Stephen Warnock
Former England defender on Final Score

Solskjaer had a spell of playing three at the back, he did it away at Paris St-Germain. He's gone back to it now, does that smell of desperation, trying to change the tactics? I don't think it suits the players but he must be thinking 'I have to try something'.

Sean Dyche celebrates nine years in charge at Burnley with their first Premier League win of the campaign.

They were sensational, Chris Wood with a super strike, a first time effort from the right, Matt Lowton headed in a second, then Maxwel Cornet with the ball at the edge of the box - he took four touches and the final one a rocket of a shot into the top corner.

Brentford were poor throughout but got great consolation through a scissor kick from substitute Saman Ghoddos. Well done Sean Dyche!

  14. 'We could have won it'published at 17:07 British Summer Time 30 October 2021

    FT: Liverpool 2-2 Brighton

    Brighton & Hove Albion

Brighton goalscorer Leandro Trossard: "I think we started off poor in the first half but after they scored their second we came back into it.

"We got our goal and believed a lot more. What a good game, we could have won it as well, it's such fine margins but we're really happy with a draw.

"You come to Anfield, any point you can take off them feels really good.

"We had fighting spirit. It was such a big game for us so to get the draw here almost feels like a win. We need to keep building on this, I think we've been brilliant."

  15. Postpublished at 17:07 British Summer Time 30 October 2021

FT: Man City 0-2 Crystal Palace

Manchester City have lost two of their last 51 Premier League games on a Saturday at 3pm. Both were at home to Crystal Palace (3-2 on 22 December 2018 and today).

  16. 'What a feeling to finally get a bit of luck on our side'published at 17:06 British Summer Time 30 October 2021

FT: Man City 0-2 Crystal Palace

    Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace midfielder Conor Gallagher: "It was brilliant honestly. What a feeling to finally get a bit of luck on our side even though we deserved. To get three points against a team like that away is a great feeling. We can take confidence from that.

"To get a goal early on helped a lot because we had something to hold on to. To keep a clean sheet even though they were down to 10 men is still not easy with the players they have.

"I should not have even been in the box. The boss told me to sit in but I just had a feeling I could get a chance and thankfully I was able to finish it.

"We’ve been unlucky with results in the last few games. When you come to Manchester City you naturally defend more and work a little bit harder. We were brilliant defensively.

"I thought Wilf [Zaha] was through on goal and he [Aymeric Laporte] had to be sent off."

  17. 'We knew coming to Newcastle would be tough'published at 17:06 British Summer Time 30 October 2021

    FT: Newcastle 0-3 Chelsea

    Chelsea

Chelsea’s Reece James, who scored two goals, told BBC Match of the Day: “I think the first one was probably the better goal on my weaker foot - it was a good finish.

"We knew coming here would be a tough game. We had to break them down and it took a lot of time.

"A lot has happened with their club since the start of the season so you never knew what their approach would be like when things are new."

  18. Are Man Utd being helped or hindered by Ronaldo?published at 17:03 British Summer Time 30 October 2021

Spurs v Man Utd (17:30 BST)

    RonaldoImage source, .

Read this article that got me called a "traitor" on social media if you'd like - are United better off without Ronaldo?

He is doing the least pressing of any attacking or midfield player in the Premier League and United are putting in many more crosses, even though Ronaldo hasn't even had a headed shot in the league.

You can even have your say on whether he makes them a better team.

  19. 'Now we can build some momentum'published at 17:01 British Summer Time 30 October 2021

    Burnley 3-1 Brentford

    Burnley

Burnley defender Matt Lowton: "It was a perfect afternoon. We weren’t far off [a first victory in the league] but we had to tidy up the details at both ends and that's what we did today. We had to get that win, now we can build some momentum.

"Going ahead early helps. We stuck at it and got a second and third before half-time. Brentford have big centre-halves - anything down the middle they clean up. We worked on our wing play and caused all sorts of problems down the sides.

"Three points is the main thing. It’s a bit of relief and delight at the same time. We haven’t been far off. We haven’t been getting too disheartened with performances, but we knew we needed the win. We’ll look to build on it."
