You can't say Chelsea look toothless without Fran Kirby and Sam Kerr. Their squad is unparalelled almost across the world. They scored 28 goals between them last season but you bring in Beth England - a proven goalscorer - and Pernille Harder, who is so well decorated on the continent. They really do have strength in depth.

  19. 'It's really special'published at 12:10 British Summer Time 5 September 2021

    Arsenal v Chelsea (12:30 BST)

    Arsenal

Arsenal defender Katie McCabe: "It’s a massive game to start the season with. I can’t wait to see the fans back, especially at the Emirates.

"Obviously Borehamwood is our home but we want to get the biggest crowd we can get at the Emirates for that massive game against our London rivals. I really can’t wait for it.

"We need to let the occasion not take over though and do the important job on the day. If all goes to plan, we do the job and do it well so we can enjoy the occasion afterwards.

"It’s really special. You can’t say you’ll open the WSL season at the Emirates on Sky Sports too often so we need to enjoy it but also remember there’s a job to do."
