Well Gemma Grainger and Wales could not have hoped for a better start to their 2023 World Cup qualification campaign.

A clean sheet and goals from Kayleigh Green (2), Rachel Rowe, Natasha Harding, Gemma Evans and Ceri Holland for the crowd here at Parc y Scarlets to savour.

A lot of positives for Grainger to take from her first competitive game in charge ahead of their trip to Estonia on Tuesday.

Wales goal scorer Rachel Rowe told BBC Two Wales: "I know I'm small but I'm mighty, I'm overwhelmed with the result and how the week has been, we executed everything we needed to.

"Credit where it is due to Gemma [Grainger] and her staff have got us prepared and we got the result we thoroughly deserved.

"The goal was top bins, it's one to be proud of, it was such a special match, I've got my family in the stand and our red wall.

"We've wanted to qualify for so long, we've been through a couple campaigns and not got that, what Gemma has done is bring in staff who have bought into a culture which going forward we will be successful.

"I truly believe, I've never been more whole heartedly into something, with this group of special players, thoroughly talented.

"We've been unseen for so long and tonight we proved what we can when playing with the ball."

Wales manager Gemma Grainger told BBC Two Wales: "I'm so pleased for the whole team, the whole team performed from the first minute to the last.

"For us it's a whole squad environment, we have a strong starting 11 and strong players to come off the bench and we showed both of those tonight.

"I think the most important thing for us to work on is to tick this game off and now focus on Estonia.

"It's a long campaign and I'm delighted to get six goals as a team, but I'm ticking this off and that's the biggest thing for us."

Wales captain Sophie Ingle told BBC Two Wales: "It's a great start in front of a home crowd.

"We're glad we put on a show for them.

"It was a great goal from Rowe, we know who can do it she does it in training, and great goals all around.

"It's a fresh start, we have good foundations from the last campaign where it was small margins and we were unlucky, but now it's that fresh start and you can see we're playing more attacking football.

"Six goals against a team who blocked up is hard but I'm buzzing for the team."

Gemma Grainger makes two changes as Megan Wynne and Esther Morgan come on for Natasha Harding and Rhiannon Roberts.
