Pacos have nicked Norwich City's kit. They've just won a free-kick which has forced Spurs on the back-foot but normal business is quickly resumed as the hosts pour forward.

    It's one-way traffic.

Kane looks really up for this.

Harry Winks has also impressed in the opening exchanges.

Nuno Espirito Santo will be delighted with what he has seen.

So it's all level on aggregate.

With a match at home to Watford on Sunday, Spurs will be hoping it does not come to this but if the scores are level on aggregate after 90 minutes, we'll have an additional 30 minutes of extra time.

Penalties will decide the winners if the score is level after 120 minutes.

I've got a feeling we won't need them.

    KAAAAAAAAAAANE!

He's back with a bang. A lovely build-up involving Harry Winks and Bryan Gil presents Harry Kane with a great chance about eight yards out.

He adjusts his feet before slotting under the keeper.

By the way, there was a bit of confusion at kick-off.

One or two Spurs players looked as though they were about to take the knee when the referee blew the whistle to start the game.

In the end no players ended up making the gesture.

The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is far from full. The top tiers of this wonderful ground are closed but there's still a decent noise from those who have turned up.

Will Spurs turn it around? Here come the teams...

  14. 'Kane can concentrate on his football again'published at 19:40 British Summer Time 26 August 2021

Tottenham v Pacos de Ferreira (agg: 0-1)

There's only one story in town as far as Spurs are concerned - and Gareth Southgate has been having his say about Harry Kane's decision to stay.

"I haven’t spoken directly to Harry, from the Euro 2020 final through until yesterday," said the England boss earlier.

"I was just checking with him whether he would be playing tonight.

"He obviously has had a lot going on, but the good thing from our perspective is that seems settled.

"I’m sure he is now relieved that there is some finality to that decision and he can concentrate on his football again."

Daniel Levy was determined to hold Harry Kane to his contract, which still has three years to run, yet he would have had a tough call to make if keeping Kane meant opposing his own fans.

But by proclaiming Kane as "one of our own" at Wolves last weekend, the Tottenham fans signalled their willingness to forget the England skipper's barely concealed desire to leave.

The can may just be being kicked down the road to subsequent transfer windows of course. After all, Kane is unlikely to become less ambitious over time.

817 days since Spurs were lining up in the Champions League final.

Spurs boss Nuno Espirito Santo, speaking to Premier Sports: "It's a very important game. We have to approach it the right way."

On Harry Kane starting: "He is progressing on his fitness and is ready to help the team. This is the right moment (for him to start). Playing is the best way to improve."

  18. 'Kane won't be pleased'published at 19:30 British Summer Time 26 August 2021

    Michael Brown
Former Man City & Spurs midfielder on BBC Radio Manchester

Spurs are in a transition, they haven’t delivered trophies. With the club not doing well last season, they do not want to sell their star player, it doesn’t look good.

Harry Kane won’t be pleased but he’s an ultimate professional.

He gets his head down, sets examples for the rest of the players and will continue with his football scoring goals, and then a window will come later down the line and things could be different.
