  1. Good nightpublished at 22:35 British Summer Time 1 September 2021

    FT: Denmark 2-0 Scotland

We'll call a halt here after a very disappointing evening for Scotland.

Join us again on Saturday when Moldova visit Hampden. Surely that's a guaranteed three points. Surely?

    Cheers for now.

  2. 'When you lose there aren't too many positives'published at 22:31 British Summer Time 1 September 2021

    FT: Denmark 2-0 Scotland

"They blew us away a little bit with the intensity of their start," Scotland head coach Steve Clarke tells Sky Sports. "Conceding two goals in quick succession made it a long night for us.

"We showed a bit of character in the second half and we got better in the game but it's a disappointing night.

"We expected a high energy start. When you look at both goals we could've done better. We didn't give ourselves a platform in the game and it took us until 30 minutes before we got a feel for it. By that time the game had gone beyond our reach.

"I don't think that was the sole cause of our problems first half. We defended too deep. We weren't brave enough in the backline. When you lose there aren't too many positives. We have to go away, recover well and get three points at Hampden on Saturday."

  6. Austria earn victory in Moldovapublished at 22:11 British Summer Time 1 September 2021

    FT: Denmark 2-0 Scotland

Full-time in Moldova and Austria have taken the points with a 2-0 win, Marko Arnautovic adding a late goal after Christoph Baumgartner had given them the lead.

Austria and Israel are now two points clear of Scotland but those two meet on Saturday when Scotland are at home to Moldova.

A draw in Haifa would be handy...

  7. 'We can't give 45-minute head starts'published at 22:08 British Summer Time 1 September 2021

    FT: Denmark 2-0 Scotland

Scotland captain Andy Robertson tells Sky Sports: "We had to weather the storm and we didn't do that well enough. We weren't brave on the ball and we couldn't keep it.

"We kept inviting pressure. We had a crazy four, five minutes and concede two goals. Second half, we were determined not to concede any more. We can't give teams 45-minutes head starts."

On playing on the right in the first half: "It was something different. I would do it again and again, not a problem. I love playing for my country. As long as I'm out there getting a cap so be it."

  8. Great Danes march onpublished at 22:04 British Summer Time 1 September 2021

    FT: Denmark 2-0 Scotland

Denmark's unbeaten run in qualifiers (World Cup and Euros) now extends to a mightily impressive 21 games (14 wins, seven draws).

I reckon that will be 22 after Saturday's meeting with the Faroe Islands.

They had a few big players missing tonight and they still breezed it really. Totally dominant in the first half.

The second half didn't prove anything. The game was over after 15 minutes. Denmark took the foot off the gas. They were extremely comfortable

We needed to show up second half to save face. We got two up front that worked their back three. We gained confidence and kept the ball. It's a game we expected to lose but in the second half we at least lost it in the right manner. Austria is a huge game for us now

The second half doesn't change the result and the disappointment, but it'll allow Steve Clarke to talk with some positivity about how things improved

  12. Israel ease to win in Faroespublished at 21:46 British Summer Time 1 September 2021

    FT: Denmark 2-0 Scotland

Israel were 4-0 winners in the Faroe Islands tonight, so they leapfrog Scotland.

Austria still lead Moldova 1-0 and that one has about 20 minutes to go. If it stays that way, they too will go above Scotland.

It looks like Denmark are going to run away with the group after a fourth win on the trot.

  13. On to Moldova & Austriapublished at 21:42 British Summer Time 1 September 2021

    FT: Denmark 2-0 Scotland

Scotland don't have any time to feel sorry for themselves since they have two more games coming up on Saturday and Tuesday.

Moldova are first up at Hampden, then it's a trip to Vienna to take on Austria.

Two wins would go a long way to make up for tonight's showing.

Scotland pay the price for a woeful opening, losing two goals inside the first 15 minutes.

It was comfortable for Denmark thereafter, although Steve Clarke's side did turn in a creditable second half display.

Scotland survive a couple of near things and again it's players stealing into the box from wide positions that causes the problems.

Craig Gordon has to beat away a downward header from Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.

  18. Turnbull on for final fivepublished at 85 mins

After a triple change for Denmark, Scotland replace Kenny McLean with David Turnbull.
