    Swansea City 0-1 West Brom

West Brom drive forward in search of a second goal.

Matt Phillips finds some space down the left to have a strike on his left foot but that's well gathered by Ben Hamer in the hosts' goal who is down to cover at his near post.

    Middlesbrough 1-0 Barnsley

Boro almost open Barnsley up again with a route-one pump downfield, but Brad Collins just got to the bouncing ball before Andraz Sporar could bring it down and shoot.

The visitors are desperately trying to make something work but Boro are swarming. If they can get their final ball right, they'll put them away you feel.

    Hull 0-0 Peterborough

Given this is the worst performing defence and the worst performing attack going at it, it's perhaps surprising to learn that it's been a proper slugfest.

Both teams are swinging, to borrow boxing parlance. Tom Huddlestone, who's had to come off for Richie Smallwood, has had a few pops, Jorge Grant came close at the opposite end.

    Swansea City 0-1 West Brom

Half an hour played and West Brom still ahead through Karlan Grant's early strike.

Swansea yet to thread the key passes together.

Every time they look like conjuring something up, a through ball or a diagonal pass has too much on it or a ball back into the box fails to find someone in a white shirt.

  5. Postpublished at 20:14 British Summer Time 20 October 2021

    Huddersfield 0-0 Birmingham

Terrific effort from Lewis O'Brien on the swivel forces Matija Sarkic into an equally good save guiding it wide with a strong palm.

The subsequent corner from the left causes a few problems but no Terriers player can make a clean connection.

Home side starting to impose themselves.

  6. goal

GOAL: Reading 1-0 Blackpoolpublished at 20:12 British Summer Time 20 October 2021

    Scott Dann (11 mins)

Early goal in the 20:00 BST kick-off.

Scott Dann nets his first goal for Reading since his summer move after being released by Crystal Palace.

Glances a header on target after a diagonal ball from a free-kick on the left touchline by John Swift.

Plenty of pace on it and it skips off the wet turf and into the net past a diving Daniel Grimshaw.

    Fulham 0-0 Cardiff City

    Cardiff again showing some endeavour.

Ruben Colwill tries his luck from distance again but his right-foot curling effort goes just wide.

  8. Postpublished at 20:10 British Summer Time 20 October 2021

    Huddersfield 0-0 Birmingham

Huddersfield stretch the Blues with a pacy break which puts Duane Holmes away down the right, but his cross is agonisingly just ahead of the diving Danny Ward.

  9. goal

GOAL: Middlesbrough 1-0 Barnsleypublished at 20:07 British Summer Time 20 October 2021

    Andraz Sporar (20 mins)

Boro hit the front, and it's Andraz Sporar who climbs highest to bury his header wide of Brad Collins.

It was a wicked ball in from the left from Paddy McNair, and Sporar had the freedom of the box to get his header away.

    Huddersfield 0-0 Birmingham

Birmingham so close to scoring but for some heroic defence from Lewis O'Brien who tracked back to steal the ball away.

Lukas Jutkiewicz was put through by Tahith Chong, and squared to the supporting runner Riley McGree, but O'Brien got his covering tackle perfect to deny the chance.

    Fulham 0-0 Cardiff City

Chances keep coming at the Cottage.

Fulham line up another shot from distance and Alex Smithies parries away Harrison Reed's right-foot drive.

  12. Postpublished at 20:05 British Summer Time 20 October 2021

    Swansea City 0-1 West Brom

The only game to have produced a goal so far reaches the 20-minute mark.

West Brom have a free-kick blocked before Jake Livermore tries his luck on the rebound only to fire harmlessly over the crossbar.

  13. HITS THE WOODWORKpublished at 20:04 British Summer Time 20 October 2021

    Hull 0-0 Peterborough

Tom Huddlestone, who loves a crack from distance, has just welted the post with a punched half-volley from the right edge of the box.

Hull come the closest then so far. Real thumper from Huddlestone that, post will still be wobbling.

  14. HITS THE POSTpublished at 20:03 British Summer Time 20 October 2021

    Fulham 0-0 Cardiff City

Woodwork struck by both sides now at Craven Cottage.

Fulham's turn this time as Neeskens Kebano looks to have rolled in an effort off his left instep after Harry Wilson's neat back heel but it strikes the base of the right post.

    Huddersfield 0-0 Birmingham

Birmingham starting to put some squeeze on Huddersfield now.

Riley McGree put in a poor corner which was easily cleared, while Tahith Chong had a shot blocked easily on the left side of the box.

Before that, the Terriers had them chasing shadows. Some sharp passing from Carlos Corberan's side.

  16. KICK-OFFpublished at 20:02 British Summer Time 20 October 2021

    Reading 0-0 Blackpool

Off and running for the last match of the night at the Select Car Leasing Stadium as they call it these days, formerly known as Sir John's House.

Doesn't exactly roll off the tongue....

  17. Postpublished at 20:01 British Summer Time 20 October 2021

    Preston 0-0 Coventry

Coventry have been the brighter side in the opening 15 minutes - probably not surprising considering their fine start to the season.

Viktor Gyokeres has gone close but the striker's first-time shot from Callum O'Hare's cross was blocked by Jordan Storey.

  18. Postpublished at 20:01 British Summer Time 20 October 2021

    Fulham 0-0 Cardiff City

Cardiff continuing to make their presence known for Fulham.

Rubin Colwill, Will Vaulks and Sam Bowen all have a go but see their shots blocked.

  19. Postpublished at 19:59 British Summer Time 20 October 2021

    Middlesbrough 0-0 Barnsley

Good save from Brad Collins as Middlesbrough yomp forward on the break.

It was Andraz Sporar who was played in by Marcus Tavernier on the left, but the Slovene's low drive was held.

At the other end, Jordan Williams galloped downfield for for Barnsley but his low cross is straight at Joe Lumley.

  20. Postpublished at 19:57 British Summer Time 20 October 2021

    Hull 0-0 Peterborough

Both sides have had early chances at the MKM Stadium.

Josh Taylor lashed one over for Peterborough, and at the other end Di'shon Bernard attacked a Callum Elder corner but couldn't put it in.

The latter the best chance so far.
