    FT: St Johnstone 1-2 Rangers

St Johnstone manager Callum Davidson is frustrated with the way his side performed after going 1-0 up against Rangers.

"The big disappointment was when we went 1-0 up we went we started making basic mistakes and got out of our shape too easily and allowed Rangers to apply pressure."

"I’m more focused on what’s coming and staying at the top end of the league than our previous form.

"Some players went away and came back international footballers now which is excellent too. You can be negative and say we haven't won in four or you can say we’re still up the top end of the league."

Just spoken to St Mirren manager Jim Goodwin pre-match and he’s hugely excited about the amount of creativity and technical ability that should be in the Buddies’ midfield this afternoon in the shape of Jamie McGrath, Connor Ronan and 16-year-old Dylan Reid.

United boss Thomas Courts is equally anticipating the presence of Finland international Ilmari Niskanen on the wing for the visitors and hopes the 825 approx away fans are pleased with what they see.

Queen's Park have taken the step up to League 1 in their stride, setting the early pace with an undefeated start.

They face Airdrie today for the second game in succession, having knocked them out of the Challenge Cup on penalties last Friday night.

  11. Livi keen to make their pointspublished at 14:51 British Summer Time 11 September 2021

    Dundee v Livingston (15:00)

Livingston are the only side still without a point in the Premiership.

Manager David Martindale remains bullish, though, boldly proclaiming a fortnight ago: "I guarantee we won't be relegated."

Livi's form must be a concern. Have lost all four games this season, their winless streak in the league now runs to 10 and and they have one victory in 16.

Today's opponents Dundee are still waiting for their first win since promotion, but at least have a couple of points in the board.

The sides face each other for the first time since 2019, with Dundee having won each of the last two league meetings.

  12. 'That's what champions do'published at 14:51 British Summer Time 11 September 2021

    FT: St Johnstone 1-2 Rangers

Rangers manager Steven Gerrard tells Sky Sports: "That's what champions do, they find ways to win and they find answers.

"We needed that final bit of quality but it certainly come. What gets you there in the end is finding a way when you're asked questions. We did it against Celtic and we did it again today."

Filip Helander was carried off in the second half, and Gerrard admits it was a worrying moment, while he does not yet know if Connor Goldson will be available for the Europa League clash with Lyon with the centre-half currently self-isolating.

He said: "I'm concerned. He's with the doctors now getting assessed, but it's not looking good. Fingers crossed he can pull through."

  13. McKay departure 'a bit of a surprise' - Postecogloupublished at 14:48 British Summer Time 11 September 2021

    Celtic v Ross County (15:00)

On yesterday's news that Dom McKay has left his role as Celtic chief executive after just two months, Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou says "it was a bit of a surprise".

"I'm not across all aspects of the club," he says. "My focus the last 48 hours has been preparing the team for today. If you think between those four walls in the dressing room there's been anything other than discussion about Ross County, you're missing what we're about.

"My relationship with Dom was good, it's been good with everyone at the club. I've had a hell of a lot of support within the club and outside to make sure I hit the ground running, that includes Dom.

"I know Michael [Nicholson] well, he's been supportive of me and will be looking to put his own impact on it."

On Cameron Carter-Vickers and Jota's debuts: "Cameron's very mature for his age and adds experience to our back four. Jota's got all the attributes. We've tried to bring in players that'll fit in to our style of football and Jota is in that mould."

Quite the Crystal Palace debut for Odsonne Edouard.

The former Celtic striker came off the bench with six minutes left, and scored two as Palace beat Spurs 3-0.

Not bad for a striker from a farmers' league, eh?

  15. Solholm in for Well debut; Aberdeen make two changespublished at 14:46 British Summer Time 11 September 2021

  16. Jags out to sting perfect Caleypublished at 14:44 British Summer Time 11 September 2021

Is today the day that Inverness Caley Thistle are finally breached?

Billy Dodds' miserly bunch - the Championship's only unbeaten team - have yet to concede in a perfect start that has them looking down on the rest with four wins.

It's a top-of-the-table showdown today as Partick Thistle head to the Highlands seeking victory to replace the hosts at the top.

Elsewhere, Ayr have Jim Duffy in interim charge against Dunfermline after David Hopkin's exit and Kilmarnock look to bounce back from defeat to Caley Thistle when they face Morton.

  17. Watt for Scotland?published at 14:43 British Summer Time 11 September 2021

    Motherwell v Aberdeen (15:00)

Aberdeen are one of only three sides still unbeaten in the Premiership, and tend to enjoy their trips to Fir Park.

The Pittodrie men have lost just two of their last 11 visits, with last season's head-to-head result in a drab 0-0 draw.

The hosts have an in-form Tony Watt gunning for them today, though, with the striker having scored in three successive games.

That has prompted talk of the striker reviving his Scotland career, with Well boss Graham Alexander commenting: "I don't see why not. We all know what Tony is capable of.

"There is a big group of players just outside the Scotland squad that are all fighting to get in it and I think Tony is one of that pool."

Off-field matters are the hot topic at Celtic after chief executive Dominic McKay's shock departure yesterday less than three months in the role.

The club say the former Scottish Rugby head honcho has stepped down for family reasons.

Michael Nicholson, Celtic's director of legal and football affairs, takes the reins in the meantime but where does McKay's exit leave Celtic?

Australian right-back Matt Millar and Wolves loanee Connor Ronan also make their debuts for the home side.

As well as the new signings, Peter Pawlett is back from suspension, while Callum Butcher and Ian Harkes start.
