    That's better from Memphis Depay.

Seconds after missing a sitter, the Dutchman picks the ball up on the edge of the area and sees a curling low effort palmed away by Jeremias Ledesma.

Barcelona are looking a different beast all of a sudden.

    Cadiz 0-0 Barcelona

    He has to score!

A brilliant ball from Luuk de Jong is played across the face of goal and surely Memphis Depay just has to tap the ball home.

But, no, a total mishit just yards from goal sees the ball cannon off his heel and away from goal to safety. A sitter.

  3. GREAT SAVE!published at 22:07 British Summer Time 23 September 2021

    Cadiz 0-0 Barcelona

    Wow.

Almost a stunning opener from the hosts - and it is that man Alvaro Negredo.

Out of nothing, the former Man City man swings his left foot at the ball and, making conection with the outside of his boot, his shot curls towards the top corner, before a stretching Marc-Andre Ter Stegen claws the ball away.

    What an effort.

  4. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 22:05 British Summer Time 23 September 2021

    Cadiz 0-0 Barcelona

Ronald Koeman had obviously seen enough.

He has made a switch at the break - bringing on Sergi Roberto for Yusuf Demir in attack.

Alvaro Jimenez replaces Salvi Sanchez for Cadiz in midfield.

  5. KICK-OFFpublished at 22:03 British Summer Time 23 September 2021

    Here we go again.

It has to get better doesn't it? It can't get worse...

    HT: Cadiz 0-0 Barcelona

Remember Alvaro Negredo? Of course you do.

The former Man City, Real Madrid and Middlesbrough striker is up top for Cadiz.

We haven't mentioned him yet as Cadiz simply haven't attacked. How he would love to score a winner though.

  7. Postpublished at 21:59 British Summer Time 23 September 2021

    HT: Cadiz 0-0 Barcelona

ONE shot on target from both sides combined in that half... and that shot was a weak scuff from Memphis Depay.

This really is worlds apart from the Barcelona most people are used to watching.

John K Wilkinson: Barça’s problem is that not only do they not have the 12 million euros to pay Koeman off, they don’t have another manager who wants to take the post. Hard times ahead indeed.

Garett T Switzer: This reckoning for Barca is karma for how they held Messi hostage for a whole season last year. Worst of all, they gained nothing from holding onto him. They could have been in year two of a total rebuild in a post-Messi era. Now it's square one.

Paulo Lopez: greedy players, agents, egomaniac Presidents have broken this wonderful Catalan and European institution. Not even the collective Penyes can save Barça now. Poor Koeman is a scapegoat again, our Wembley hero too. Disgraceful!

  10. HALF-TIMEpublished at 21:48 British Summer Time 23 September 2021

    Cadiz 0-0 Barcelona

    A strange game.

Cadiz have just built a yellow wall on the edge of their penalty area and Barcelona look as though they have no idea how to knock it down.

Oh for the days when they had a certain Lionel Messi to waltz his way through defences.

Ronald Koeman needs to make something happen at the break. You look at the bench though and it's not full of matchwinners...

Memphis Depay whips in a dangerous-looking free-kick from deep but Jeremias Ledesma is out smartly to punch clear.

Tom: Barca have been hit hardest by the pandemic. Everyone has lost revenue but they made more than anyone else so have lost the most. But name another club where the biggest stars (including Messi) would take a pay CUT to help make the team more competitive.

Samson Okyere: If Barcelona lose this match,it could be the end of the road for Koeman

  13. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 21:41 British Summer Time 23 September 2021

    Cadiz 0-0 Barcelona

It's the last action of the game for Fali.

The midfielder is being carried off on a stretcher after injuring his knee with noone near him - with chants of 'fali, fali' from the crowd, He will be missed.

    Jens Joensson is on.

  14. Postpublished at 21:38 British Summer Time 23 September 2021

    Cadiz 0-0 Barcelona

A huge ovation for Cadiz midfielder Fali... and that was simply for chasing a lost cause deep in Barcelona's half. Imagine how the home fans would react if their side actually launched an attack.

  15. Postpublished at 21:36 British Summer Time 23 September 2021

    Cadiz 0-0 Barcelona

    Ooof.

A backpass from Varazdat Haroyan almost gifts Luuk de Jong a free shot on goal, but Jeremias Ledesma is quick off the mark to win the race and sweep up.

It's all Barcelona but without looking massively threatening.

  16. Postpublished at 21:32 British Summer Time 23 September 2021

    Cadiz 0-0 Barcelona

A first shot on target of the match - just on the half hour mark,

Memphis Depay has the ball at his feet 40 yards from goal, drives towards the box, shifts the ball onto his right foot, before weakly scuffing a shot straight at goalkeeper Jeremias Ledesma.

Luuk de Jong wanted the pass!

  17. Postpublished at 21:29 British Summer Time 23 September 2021

    Cadiz 0-0 Barcelona

    That's better.

Cadiz sloppily give the ball away and Barcelona are nearly in.

Frenkie de Jong picks the ball up in acres of space on the left, picks his head up, and drives a low cross towards the near post. Memphis Depay stretches but the ball is parried clear by Jeremias Ledesma and the danger is over.

Zahi: I reckon Barcelona should go for Big Sam in case they sack Koeman. After all, he’s an expert in avoiding the drop.

Ouch. Although remember when Big Sam said he could manage Real Madrid.

  19. Real Madrid go goal crazypublished at 21:26 British Summer Time 23 September 2021

While we wait for a meaningful attack, why not catch up on the action from last night.

Real Madrid went goal crazy as they hammered Mallorca 6-1 - including a Marco Asensio treble.

  20. Postpublished at 21:22 British Summer Time 23 September 2021

    Cadiz 0-0 Barcelona

Ronald Koeman is screaming at his players to 'stretch the pitch'.

It's all far too narrow at the moment.
