  2. Mbappe and Neymar rift played downpublished at 11:02 British Summer Time 28 September 2021

PSG v Manchester City (20:00 BST)

Paris St-Germain boss Mauricio Pochettino has played down any falling-out between Kylian Mbappe and Neymar.

Mbappe appeared to complain to a team-mate on the bench "he doesn't give me the pass", seemingly about Neymar, after being replaced late on in Saturday's win over Montpellier.

"They are fantastic guys. These things happen," said Pochettino.

"There are always things between top players. They are competitors who want to win and help the team achieve good."

    Alistair Magowan
    BBC Sport

The debate about football's relationship with gambling keeps on rolling with Bolton Wanderers joining the likes of Tranmere Rovers and Forest Green Rovers in cutting their ties to the betting industry.

Trotters chief executive Neil Hart told BBC Sport that the club "didn't need to be part" of a market where adverts are "rammed down our throats" and said the club's decision was "the right thing to do".

  5. Mouth-watering clash in Milan as Rossoneri hunt revengepublished at 10:43 British Summer Time 28 September 2021

AC Milan v Atletico Madrid (20:00 BST)

AC Milan look a different beast this season. They gave Liverpool a scare on matchday one and will be targeting progression to the Champions League knockout stages.

A lot depends on them getting a good result at San Siro tonight. But they are facing an Atletico Madrid side who ended their last campaign with a whimper in 2014.

Clarence Seedorf's side were beaten 4-1 at the Vicente Calderon, going out 5-1 on aggregate in the last 16. Atleti went on to lose in the final to neighbours Real Madrid. It confirmed AC Milan's fall from grace, but they'll hope to be a bigger threat this time around.

  7. Argentina select Premier League playerspublished at 10:32 British Summer Time 28 September 2021

Argentina have selected three Premier League players for October's World Cup qualifiers despite the country remaining on the UK's travel red list.

Last month, most English clubs refused to release players called up by South American countries for qualifiers.

Since Friday, Argentine nationals do not need to quarantine after arrival in the country from overseas, if they are vaccinated and test negative for Covid.

But anyone arriving in the UK from Argentina must quarantine for 10 days.

Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez and Tottenham's Giovani lo Celso and Cristian Romero have been named in Argentina's 30-man squad for their games with Paraguay, Uruguay and Peru from 8-15 October.

The Reds met Porto en route to winning a sixth European Cup/Champions League in 2019, and they won 4-1 in the away leg of their quarter final. Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Virgil van Dijk were on the scoresheet that night. Will it go the same way this time?

  10. Liverpool defence not a concern - Klopppublished at 10:14 British Summer Time 28 September 2021

    Porto v Liverpool (20:00 BST)

Liverpool travel to Portugal later to take on Porto in Group B.

The Reds will be looking to make it two wins on the trot in the Champions League after winning their opener against AC Milan 3-2.

Despite conceding three at Brentford at the weekend manger Jurgen Klopp says their defensive display against the Bees is "not a concern" going into the game.

"We didn't defend at our highest level so we have to improve," said Klopp.

"We don't make these things bigger than they are but you have to show a reaction.

"It's not a moment to be concerned but we have spoken about it and we know that we can't do things like that. We have sorted that and we have to show that.

"This is a tough group and we should not waste time," he added.

  12. Messi and Guardiola meet againpublished at 09:59 British Summer Time 28 September 2021

PSG v Manchester City (20:00 BST)

It was one of the most successful player-manager relationships of the modern era.

Pep Guardiola and Lionel Messi won 14 trophies together at Barcelona during a four-year period and the pair have been dominant forces in European football for more than a decade.

Since parting ways when Guardiola left the Catalan club in 2012, no player has scored more goals against his teams in the Champions League than Messi.

Their longstanding relationship and Messi's enduring brilliance helps explain why Guardiola tried to sign Messi in the summer. The Argentine instead ended up at Paris St-Germain and will face his former manager in the Champions League on Tuesday.

Some interesting news broke late last night concerning European football's governing body UEFA and the 12 Super League clubs.

In the wake of numerous judgements from the court in Madrid, UEFA has dropped its legal action against the three clubs still to back away from the proposals - Juventus, Real Madrid and Barcelona.

In addition, UEFA will not collect the fines levied against the other nine teams, including £22m from the six Premier League clubs involved, until the European Court of Justice has delivered its verdict, which could be months or years away.

The crux of the whole issue is whether UEFA has a right to stop the clubs forming their own competitions. They clubs felt no.

UEFA are keen to stress they reserve the right to take action in the future. But the EoJ may rule they can't.

  15. Nuno appointment 'turning into nightmare'published at 09:35 British Summer Time 28 September 2021

Three defeats in a row means the pressure is increasing on Tottenham manager Nuno Espirito Santo, says Chris Sutton.

Spurs were top of the league after three games following a trio of 1-0 wins, but Sunday's 3-1 loss to Arsenal was their third straight defeat. That result followed 3-0 reverses against Crystal Palace and Chelsea.

"It doesn't feel like the right fit - he's got to win over the Spurs fans and I'm not so sure he can.

"He wasn't first choice or second choice. Last season his Wolves team were on the decline and the Spurs fans were never going to like his brand of football," said Sutton.

  18. 'It is not do or die tonight'published at 09:15 British Summer Time 28 September 2021

PSG v Manchester City (20:00 BST)

    Michael Brown
Former Manchester City midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live

"Which attacking formation does Guardiola go with? The false nine, Phil Foden played there against Chelsea. Jack Grealish was on the left, Gabriel Jesus on the right; Riyad Mahrez did so well, and will Raheem Sterling be pushing to come in? It is a big opportunity, that is what Grealish has signed for, to play in these Champions League games, but at City you are not guaranteed that starting place. City go to Liverpool on Sunday. We expect both sides to go through, so it is not do or die tonight."

  19. 'City have to be smart'published at 09:10 British Summer Time 28 September 2021

PSG v Manchester City (20:00 BST)

    Michael Brown
Former Manchester City midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live

"Guardiola knows his team, he understands it, they played really well at Chelsea, out of possession with their pressing. I think Manchester City don't need to fear. The atmosphere is going to be great."

On reported issues between Neymar and Kylian Mbappe: "Pochettino will always try and play it down, won't he? You've got so many top players at PSG, and it is the manager's challenge to get them playing together. He took Messi off and that was a huge talking point, but you have to rotate these players. These superstars demand to play week-in, week-out, and Man City can play on that. When it is not going so well, they can lose their discipline. City have to be smart."

  20. 'We want to see Messi'published at 09:05 British Summer Time 28 September 2021

PSG v Manchester City (20:00 BST)

    Michael Brown
Former Manchester City midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live

Former Manchester City midfielder Michael Brown was on 5 Live Breakfast this morning with his take on City's Champions League tie with PSG.

"We were at the stadium yesterday, the pitch looked perfect. It is the setting for a wonderful game. (Mauricio) Pochettino declared Lionel Messi fit, so everybody is delighted. Pep (Guardiola) said that for the good of the game and everybody watching he should play, but I'm sure he's really thinking 'let's leave him where he is for another game'. The scene is set, he's not scored, and we've seen these top players do it time and time again. We want to see him on the pitch."
