    FT: Rennes 2-0 PSG

It's the first time PSG have lost since Lionel Messi joined the club.

PSG had scored in each of their last 15 away league matches, since a 0-0 draw at last season's champions Lille in December 2020.

They had won 11 of their last 12 away games in Ligue 1 - only dropping points at Rennes in May.

    FT: Rennes 2-0 PSG

A goal at the very end of the first half and another right at the start of the second earn Rennes a fantastic three points - and a third win in nine Ligue 1 games this season.

PSG had Kylian Mbappe's finish ruled out for offside as the visitors chased a response, while Lionel Messi went close from a free-kick, but ultimately Mauricio Pochettino's side end the match without recording a shot on target.

They do, however, still have a healthy six-point lead at the top of the table.

Lionel Messi whips a free-kick into the box but Rennes stand firm and clear their lines.

Lionel Messi fires over from the edge of the box.

Mauricio Pochettino looks on from the touchline. His talented side have been very poor in front of goal today.

Just a couple of minutes to go. Rennes still look full of running in bothe attack and defence and it looks like PSG's winning start in Ligue 1 will end at eight matches.

Hamari Traore tries his luck. It's on target but it's straightforward enough for Gianluigi Donnarumma.

Just over 10 minutes to go and Rennes still want a third.

  17. SUBSTITUTIONSpublished at 77 mins

    Rennes 2-0 PSG

Lots of substitutions. Three for both teams, in fact.

The hosts call on Lorenz Assignon, Serhou Guirassy and Baptiste Santamaria.

Meanwhile, PSG bring on Ander Herrera, Mauro Icardi and Georginio Wijnaldum for Marco Verratti, Idrissa Gueye and Neymar.

    Rennes 2-0 PSG

PSG come again, but there's a wall of red shirts lined across the Rennes penalty area.

Foul! Rennes concede a free-kick just outside the penalty area.

    Lionel Messi range.

  20. CLOSE!published at 71 mins

    Rennes 2-0 PSG

Kylian Mbappe is in again but this time he lifts his shot over the bar.

What a game. Less than 20 minutes for PSG to find two goals if they are to rescue a point here. This is going to be a fun finish.
