Fulham reclaimed top spot as Aleksandar Mitrovic scored his 21st goal of the season in their 4-1 win against Barnsley.
Third-placed West Brom were beaten at form side Huddersfield, while Stoke consolidated fourth place with a victory against Peterborough.
Coventry City and Sheffield United played out a goalless draw in the early kick-off while Reading and Nottingham Forest drew 1-1.
Meanwhile down towards the bottom, there were key wins for Hull City at home to Birmingham City and Cardiff City at Preston.
Joint administrator Carl Jackson has been giving the latest news on the search for a buyer for Derby County.
He told BBC Radio Derby: "We've set out a clear timetable to all interested parties, which they are working to.
"Our expectation is that we'll land on a preferred buyer in the next two to three weeks."
He added: "We'd like to get out of this as quickly as possible, but I think we're looking at the back end of January before we get everything wrapped up."

Well, what a first half.
Three goals and plenty of talking points, but it's the visitors who have the lead after coming from behind.
Derby have shown some fight and determination, but Bournemouth have demonstrated their clinicism to score twice through Jaidon Anthony and Dominic Solanke.
