Teenage substitute Hanna Bennison scored the winning goal as Sweden overcame Switzerland to earn their first victory at Euro 2022.

Among the tournament favourites, Sweden ensured their hopes of progressing to the quarter-finals remain in their own hands heading into their final match against Portugal on Sunday.

Everton midfielder Bennison produced a fine finish from the edge of the penalty area with 11 minutes remaining to send Peter Gerhardsson's side top of Group C.

The game had sparked into life early in the second half as Barcelona forward Fridolina Rolfo slotted in at the end of a sweeping team move to end Switzerland's stern resistance.

But Switzerland, forced to cancel training on Monday after nine players suffered from a stomach bug, responded less than two minutes later when Bachmann curled in at Bramall Lane.

Rebecka Blomqvist had two late finishes ruled out for offside but Switzerland were unable to force a late equaliser and remain on one point after two matches.

Defending champions the Netherlands face Portugal in the other Group C match later on Wednesday (20:00 BST).

It's been a week since England kicked off Euro 2022 in front of 68,871 fans at Old Trafford.

What a festival we've witnessed so far. We've had goals - lots of them - city centre takeovers and carnival atmospheres across the nine stadiums that have hosted matches.

Attendance records for the tournament are being shattered, but there have also been complaints of "sold-out" stadiums not actually being full at kick-off.

So we want to hear from you on your experiences of a tournament that's capturing new supporters for women's football across the length and breadth of the country.

Let us know your experiences right here.

  9. 'Switzerland will be disappointed'published at 19:08 British Summer Time 13 July 2022

It was a great reaction from Switzerland. I thought if the Swiss were going to get back into this game they needed to score quickly.

It was great from Bachmann. Worryingly she's limping off at full-time now. That's not good for Switzerland ahead of their final group game.

You can see it in their faces and the final moments of added time. Switzerland will be disappointed.

They fought until the absolute end but they will be disappointed, especially with the way Sweden played, that they didn't get a point today.

Sweden were below par for me. If they want to win this competition they need to up their game.

    Jonas Eidevall

Unfortunately for Switzerland, their chances went away when Ramona Bachmann went off injured because she was the constant threat.

Sweden of course needed to win but they don't impress with the way they play.

The Swiss players will be feeling some relief. They still have the opportunity to stay in this game and try and equalise.

It was a lovely calm finish from Blomqvist. The Swiss got pulled apart in that situation.

The goal is wiped out and Switzerland still have hope. It's one of those extremely tight VAR offsides but the technology halts Sweden's celebrations.

Sweden will be in pole position to qualify from Group C if it stays like this, while Switzerland would need to beat reigning European champion the Netherlands in their last match to have any hope of staying in the competition.

Four minutes and injury time for that to change.
