    Motherwell v Rangers (12:00)

Motherwell manager Graham Alexander tells BBC Sportsound: "We have a fit group of players, the stats from the last couple of games are phenomenal, and we need to produce that again today.

"We have come back from hard knocks before, we don't go around feeling sorry for ourselves after the draw with St Mirren in midweek.

"We can draw on past performances and results against Rangers - we drew with them at Ibrox and here in my second game. So we know we can compete, that's the biggest thing, but we have to do a lot of things right today to get a result."

Both return to the starting line-up today and Gerrard told Rangers TV: "After the news of Walter, I didn't feel like they were in the right place, just by their reaction when I told them the news. But they'll come back in today, they seem in a better place."

Rangers manager Steven Davis tells Sky Sports: "It's always tough here. There's a lot of water on the pitch so I'm sure that'll be a leveller.

"I just wanted to change the front line a bit and get a bit of unpredictability in there. This is Scot Arfield's type of game.

"You're always aware of the results. At the end of the day, it's always about Rangers for me. We've got to deal with our results."

As the clocks go back, you can feel winter in the air at Fir Park. It's damp, and cold.

At one stage Motherwell's chances of defeating Rangers would have been just as bleak, but they've drawn their past two against the champions, including at Ibrox in September.

But, they've not beaten Rangers in the league since Boxing Day 2002.

  13. 'There are improvements to be made'published at 11:39 Greenwich Mean Time 31 October 2021

    Motherwell v Rangers (12:00)

After four games without a win, Motherwell manager Graham Alexander is looking to get back on track this afternoon.

"We had a very good start to the season," he said last week. "The last three or four games have been extremely difficult but you have got to take into account the level of opposition we have played as well.

"If you said at the start, this is the points tally (15) you are going to have after 11 games and the area of the league you will be in (seventh), I think we would have taken it.

"I think there are improvements to be made as a squad. We are getting players more up to speed with how we want to work because there are a lot of new players in there - not just new to the club but new to Scottish football - and there is a bedding-in process."
