Conte is exactly the man for Spurs right now. A group of lazy "bad apples" in the squad who overestimate their value - Dele, Ndombele for starters - Levy is looking for a strong character to sort this. Nuno clearly did not have the ability to deal with it. By value - Spurs is a massive club, this is an opportunity to realise that.....

jimmerrrr: The difference between Spurs appointing Conte and Mourinho is that Conte is still at the top of his game. The shortness of contract is worrying though!
Neil: Why now for Conte, why not 16 weeks ago, what has changed, will Levy finally back a manager? Oh and I will be there Thursday to welcome Conte.
Gumbo 74: Much like Cristiano Ronaldo to Manchester United gave Ole Gunnar Solskjaer no hiding place, Conte to Tottenham must be Levy's final roll of the dice after, only recently, Nuno, Jose AND Poch? Should have stumped up in the summer and not been 1/4 way through the season after taking 5th choice.

More now from former Spurs striker Mido: "I think [Harry] Kane loves Tottenham. The reason he wanted to leave in the first place, is that he could see that everyone else could see the club was in a mess.
"Now, if he sees the club getting in the right direction under a big manager – I think he will stay. I don’t think it will be a big issue for Conte to convince Kane to stay.
"Once Kane sees things in the right direction, he will be the first one who wants to stay."

Everyone asking why Poch wasn't supported and suddenly we will spend. Perhaps Daniel Levy now realises the error of his ways? Some people do learn from their mistakes you know! He's had a lot of stick but credit to him for trying to fix the situation.

Former Tottenham striker Mido said: "I’m surprised he [Antonio Conte] will sign for only 18 months. I think he needs much more time to transform Tottenham.
"18 months is not enough for a coach to change things around.
"We all know it’s been a mess. We cannot hide. It’s obvious to everyone that it’s been a mess at Tottenham.
"Let’s hope Daniel Levy and the board will be patient with him [Conte].
"Conte knows that without money he cannot do anything. He needs good defenders."

If Conte is bound for Tottenham, you’d have to ask what conditions are attached to his arrival. If he gets a transfer war chest, a lot of Tottenham fans will be asking why the same courtesy wasn’t extended to Pochettino.

Nick: Lots of people talking about Antonio Conte being a winner. This is Tottenham though. If Usain Bolt had been wearing a Spurs shirt in the 100m final in Beijing, he would’ve finished 4th
A serial winner with Premier League success on his CV, a single-minded disciplinarian and an astute tactician. It is easy to see why Tottenham Hotspur are chasing Antonio Conte to be their new manager.
The former Chelsea and Inter Milan boss is on the verge of succeeding Nuno Espirito Santo, who was sacked by Spurs on Monday after just four fractious months in the job.
It would complete a fascinating turnaround from the summer, when the Italian spurned Spurs' advances to become their manager, paving the way for Nuno's eventual appointment.
But with an out-of-form squad, a lack of recent investment and a star player who was eager to leave in the summer, perhaps the more pertinent question is why would Conte want to join Tottenham now?

Wolves 2-1 Everton
Wolves
Wolves captain Conor Coady, speaking to BBC Sport after the game: "I thought we were outstanding in the first half. We were aggressive from the first whistle. A fantastic night, something we can improve on but fantastic for everyone.
"An incredible atmosphere under the lights. We are improving, we are getting better and we just have to keep doing it.
"We give Max [Kilman] stick for not scoring enough but what a header, I couldn't be happier for him. He is a brilliant lad and works so hard.
"We are a close-knit team and whoever comes in knows their role and what they have to do.
"Amazing. I thought Raul [Jimenez] was going to take it around the keeper but he dinks it in. A world-class player and a world class finish.
"You don't want to see it, he did fantastic at this club and when he goes to other clubs you want to see him do well but we focus on ourselves."
