    Norwich 0-0 Everton

Norwich City have taken just five points from their last 45 available in Premier League home games (W1 D2 L12), with the Canaries bagging just five goals in these 15 games.

They desperately need to start improving that record, starting today.

  14. 'We know Liverpool aren't far behind'published at 15:01 Greenwich Mean Time 15 January 2022

    FT: Man City 1-0 Chelsea

    Manchester City

Manchester City goalscorer Kevin de Bruyne, speaking to BBC Match of the Day: "I didn't see any pass but then I saw a little gap between the defenders to bend it around them, and it worked.

"It's been like this lately against Chelsea since they played under Tuchel, and even Conte. You won't get five clear-cut chances against them. Sometimes you need to stay patient and that's what we did, otherwise the game gets stretched and that makes it more difficult for us.

"We've been in a situation where we've been eight or ten points ahead but also eight or ten points behind. We know it can change very quickly. We know the gap is big at the moment, but we know Liverpool aren't far behind if they win their games.

"Both sides had a lot of Covid issues and injuries, so not a lot of people have trained a lot. The intensity was high - respect to everyone for that."

    Alistair Magowan
BBC Sport at St James' Park

There's a good interview with Kieran Trippier in the Newcastle programme today as the England right-back makes his league debut for Eddie Howe's side.

He praises his "relentless" manager as someone he's "learned a lot from" and describes how he and and his family are happy to be back in England after his spell in Spain with Atletico Madrid.

One of the reasons, he suggests, is the English food. "You miss the chippies, you know what I mean!"

    Yes, Kieran, we do.

  18. 'We lacked quality up front'published at 14:59 Greenwich Mean Time 15 January 2022

    FT: Man City 1-0 Chelsea

    Chelsea

Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel, speaking to BBC Match of the Day: "Given the circumstances, if you look at our back five and how many players we missed, I'm happy with the performance, defensive-wise.

"In the second half we created counter chances. We had one big chance to even go ahead. We lost a tight match, which can happen. It was about individual quality, and we lacked quality up front if I'm honest.

"You have to wait for momentum. We had the same opportunities in the first half, but from eight or nine transition options we had zero touches in the box. The quality, the deliveries and the composure was absolutely not on top level today. You need top level to get half chances and chances, and that's what we lacked in the first half.

"Our offensive players need to show up more. We need consistency. Chelsea is not a place to hide."

On the title race: "It's about commitment. We can be sure that we're trying. If City win 12 matches in a row and we're struggling with injuries and Covid, it's not the best time to close the gap. The gap is big because they deal better with Covid and better with injuries."

  19. 'I want even more from De Bruynepublished at 14:57 Greenwich Mean Time 15 January 2022

    Manchester City

City manager Pep Guardiola speaking to BT Sport:

(We) Absolutely deserved it. They way we played, everything we have done, we cannot forget who we played, they are Euro champions, and how incredible a side they are. They defended well, they waited for transition to punish us and we won from one transition.

The only problem we had was after we went 1-0, they stepped up, they ended with Mason Mount, Callum Hudson-Odoi, Timo Werner, Romelu Lukaku all on the pitch, but the team were brilliant.

On how good De Bruyne was

We have won what we have done together, and now I want to push him more, he is a world class player, he has humility, is humble. He has won three Premier Leagues and a lot of prizes, but I want more, because I know he can do it. He has everything, he missed a bit of confidence this season, he struggled a bit but he knows what he can do. His mum and dad have to be so proud of him.

Twelve victories in a row is incredible, so we must keep going.

If Liverpool win their games in hand it is eight points, so my job is to take out of the heads of the players what people will say. We are more than pleased but there is a lot of a job to do.

  20. Head-to-head statspublished at 14:56 Greenwich Mean Time 15 January 2022

    Newcastle v Watford (15:00 GMT)

Newcastle's only victory in the past 10 Premier League meetings came at home in November 2018.

Watford have won three of their last five games at St James' Park in all competitions.

A sixth Premier League victory against Newcastle on Saturday would be an outright club record against a particular opponent.
