Watford run themselves into all kinds of trouble at the back. Chris Wood reacts to a loose pass and he's away. Craig Cathcart sprints back to do just enough to put him off and the shot is deflected wide for a corner.

Oooh, Lyanco is a very relieved man as he slides in to clear a low cross and deflects the ball over his own bar.

Watford have woken up a bit. Joshua King slips in Moussa Sissoko, who wins a corner.

Newcastle are resolute on the set-piece though.

"No noise from the Saudi boys" from the Watford fans but contrary to that assessment, and they are up in the Gods, it has been quite noisy so far after that Joelinton chance.

Chris Wood is certainly giving the Watford defence something to think about. The question is whether the likes of Allan Saint-Maximin can find the gaps in between.

Just as I type that ASM is lambasted by the home fans for giving the ball away.

Demarai Gray is in the thick of this. He shimmies past a man out wide to allow a cut inside and a shot that Tim Krul is well-placed to save.

Leander Dendoncker is encouraged to shoot from 30 yards and decides to go for it... over the bar and maybe even over the top of the stadium roof.

Doubt he's going to be encouraged to shoot again after that.

Demarai Gray goes down in the box under a challenge from Pierre Lees-Melou. It was a challenge full of risk but a well executed one. The ball comes off the heel of Gray ultimately, allowing City to clear.

What a moment that was. Chris Wood made something out of nothing, the ball fell to Ryan Fraser who puts the ball into the area, Joelinton reacts the quickest.

That now may spark the crowd into life and give Newcastle a lift. The first real interchange of passes and it nearly results in a goal.

A decent daisy-cutter from Pierre Lees-Melou fires through towards goal but Jordan Pickford saw it coming from point of boot hitting ball. He is bang behind it.

This is impressive stuff from Southampton. They've had more of the ball and on the few occasions Wolves do manage to get possession they are very quick to close them down. No chances for either side yet, however.

Newcastle are on the front foot at the moment. Ryan Fraser whips it in from the right, it deflects off Juraj Kucka and Joelinton gets a touch on it, poking it against the crossbar!

Demarai Gray hits the free-kick but he can't clear the wall. He went for placement and found a Norwich head.

Adam Idah fancies one from range but he doesn't catch it all. That prompts an Everton counter which leads to Dominic Calvert-Lewin being fouled on the edge of the box. This is a shooting opportunity.

Norwich have another free-kick in an area from which they can pose a threat. Michael Keane the man giving it away.

Milot Rashica clips it in but Dominic Calvert-Lewin heads away. The Everton strikers doing a decent job in defence so far.
