West Brom close the gap on third-placed Bournemouth to two points on a tricky night at Oakwell.

The best chance of the match fell to defender Cedric Kipre in the opening five minutes but the Baggies centre-backsaw his header come back off the post.

Barnsley are now seven points adrift of safety but have won just two games and scored 15 goals in 23 league matches.

Jayson Molumby is booked for West Brom for a strong tackle.

West Brom striker Jordan Hugill limps off the pitch and Adam Reach takes his place.

Hugill is fuming that Michal Helik has not been sent off for that challenge on him.

West Brom want the advantage but with a player down and injured from both sides the referee stops it.

It was Michal Helik who fouled Jordan Hugill and the West Brom man looks to be in real pain.

Helik is booked and... yeah, replays suggest he is a lucky boy to not be getting a red.

West Brom knocking on the door now.

Alex Mowatt's deep cross is headed goalwards by Matt Clarke but the ball lands on top of the net.

Barnsley defender Jordan Williams did well to put him under pressure.

Decent opening for the visitors.

However, Darnell Furlong opts to try and cut in on to his left foot inside the area and the home side get the ball to safety.

Barnsley make their second change, Aaron Leya Iseka is off and Clarke Odour is on.

West Brom goalkeeper Sam Johnstone tries to pass the ball out to Matt Clarke but the big centre-back makes a total hash of it and it goes out for a Barnsley throw.

And that is how this game is going just now.

Jon: Barnsley really need a break. Their confidence is so fragile and there feels like an inevitability about a late Baggies goal.

Blackburn Lad: I may be accused of a small amount of bias here but I would be ever so chuffed if Barnsley win.

It's understandable, Blackburn Lad. If the result stays as it is, Rovers will be able to move above West Brom - into third - with victory tomorrow.

Ok... This is very scrappy now.

Both these teams need points for different reasons and, as we head towards the last 10 minutes, the home side will want to make sure if they don't find a winner they certainly don't lose what they currently have.

Great defending from Michal Helik to deny Karlan Grant the opener for West Brom!

Sub Grady Diangana plays Grant in on goal and he skips around Brad Collins in the home goal.

The angle's against him but his shot is bound for the back of the net before Helik slides in to deflect it away. Great stuff.

Let's see if these Baggies changes can make a difference here then.

Grady Diangana is a really talented player but he's struggled to have an impact this season.

West Brom make a double change.

Jayson Molumby and Grady Diangana are on and Jake Livermore and Callum Robinson are off.

West Brom wing-back Conor Townsend is the second Albion player booked this evening.

Didn't seem too much in it to me, could have been for something he said to the referee.

Former Barnsley boss Valerien Ismael isn't majorly enthralled by what he has seen from his West Brom charges so far this evening.

A win would send the Baggies level on points with second-placed Bournemouth.

Good save from Brad Collins in the home goal to deny Callum Robinson from eight yards.

Barnsley go to their bench for the first time and it's former Motherwell striker Devante Cole who takes the place of midfielder Josh Benson.

I wonder if that will see a change of shape for the home side.
