  1. Farewell

    #bbcefl

That just about does us for today, with an entertaining Championship affair between Blackpool and Hull, while there were goals galore across Leagues One and Two.

How about we do it all again? The English Football League continues tomorrow. And we'll take you through tomorrow's action as it happens.

For now, thank you for joining us.

  2. League Two full-time headlines

    Swindon

The fairy tale continues into 2022 for Sutton who have moved into the third automatic promotion spot after scoring a last-minute penalty to beat Exeter 2-1.

Swindon were big winners, defeating second-placed Northampton 5-2 at the County Ground, Harry McKirdy scoring four as the Robins move up to fifth.

Newport have lost ground in the promotion race after conceding an equaliser five minutes into stoppage time at Walsall, the game finishing 3-3.

Carlisle secured a huge away victory over fellow strugglers Scunthorpe to move three points clear of the relegation zone, Rod McDonald with the only goal of the game.

Bottom-side Oldham picked up a crucial point with 0-0 draw away to Hartlepool.

Crawley recorded a comfortable 3-1 victory over Colchester and Bradford took all three points from their trip to Cumbria with a 2-1 win against Barrow.

  3. League One full-time headlines

    Sam Vokes

In addition to Rotherham's win over Bolton...

Sam Vokes' first-half goal earns Wycombe Wanderers a key win over Charlton Athletic, and they go up to fourth in League One.

Oxford United missed the chance to gain ground in the push for the top two as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Cheltenham, who saw Callum Wright's goal cancelled out by Mark Sykes late on. Matty Taylor had earlier missed a penalty for the U's.

MK Dons were held by Gillingham and missed the chance to put pressure on the top-six, while Burton thrashed Crewe 4-1.

  4. The action continues in the EFL

    #bbcefl

There's more action to look forward to this weekend as the New Year's football feast continues.

Tomorrow we've got a BUMPER line-up of four Championship games as it stands, as well as two League One fixtures to look forward to.

  5. FULL-TIME

    Rotherham 2-1 Bolton

    Smith

Rotherham do it. They cling on to go back to the top of League One with a Michael Smith brace enough to secure them all three points against spirited Bolton.

The Millers were stretched at times by a Trotters side who had levelled through Eoin Doyle, and might have had much more to show from this game had they taken their chances.

However, it's seven away defeats in a row for Ian Evatt's side.

  6. Post update

    Rotherham 2-1 Bolton

Viktor Johansson makes a huge save to deny Bolton's Oladapo Afolayan and then Harry Brockbank smashes his rebound over the bar.

    Fingertips clinging on here...

  7. FULL-TIME

    Blackpool 1-0 Hull

    Madine

Job done for Blackpool. They end a run of two losses as they defeat Hull courtesy of Gary Madine's first half penalty. That win sends them up to 12th in the Championship table.

Hull's winless run extends to four games.

  8. FULL-TIME

    Forest Green 2-0 Stevenage

    FGR

Three weeks after their last game, Forest Green finally return to action with a win as goals from Josh March and Jamille Matt earn the league leaders victory and extend the lead to seven points.

Stevenage's woes continue as Paul Tisdale waits for his first win as Boro manager.

  9. Post update

    Rotherham 2-1 Bolton

Into added time, five minutes awarded, Rotherham desperate to hang on.

  10. Post update

    Blackpool 1-0 Hull

Not long left for Blackpool to hold on for the win against Hull, here.

They haul off Keshi Anderson and Josh Bowler after a cracking shift for the Seasiders.

They're replaced by Callum Connolly and Daniel Gretarsson with five minutes added on.

  11. Post update

    Forest Green 2-0 Stevenage

Ebou Adams could have sewn it up for Forest Green well and truly but his shot goes over the top.

Cruising to victory, despite Boro's best efforts.

  12. Post update

    Rotherham 2-1 Bolton

Bolton winger Oladapo Afolayan has been a menace to Rotherham all afternoon, and he's just coaxed a foul out of Rarmani Edmonds-Green which earned him a yellow card.

When Wanderers have been good, Afolayan has been at the heart of it this afternoon.

  13. Post update

    Blackpool 1-0 Hull

Ryan Longman's cleared to continue for Hull and his side threaten Blackpool soon after.

Tom Eaves drives from long range and his effort goes just wide.

  14. Post update

    Forest Green 2-0 Stevenage

Fair play to Stevenage, they've taken the game to Forest Green and sub Charlie Carter went sprawling in the box but to no penalty reward.

That said, Adam Smith just made a fine save to deny Jack Aitcheson from making it three for Rovers.

  15. Post update

    Blackpool 1-0 Hull

Hull have made all their substitutes but now Ryan Longman is struggling.

A conundrum for the visitors who've already brought off Callum Elder and Josh Magennis due to injury.

  16. Post update

    Forest Green 2-0 Stevenage

Paul Tisdale has made a couple of changes for Stevenage having gone two-behind against Forest Green, as James Daly and Charlie Carter come on.

Rovers have made a switch too, with Ben Stevenson replacing Sadou Diallo.

The two-goal combo has knocked the stuffing out of Stevenage.

  17. Post update

    Blackpool 1-0 Hull

Just under a quarter of an hour remains at Bloomfield Road and most of the 11,000 in attendance will be happy with what they've seen.

Blackpool are holding on at the minute with a 1-0 lead against Hull, but can they see out only their second win at home since October?

  18. GOAL: Rotherham 2-1 Bolton

    Michael Smith (74 mins)

    Smith

Rotherham go in front for a second time and as it stands will head to the top of League One.

Once again it's a peach of a cross, this time from Chiedozie Ogbene which Michael Smith meets with determination and it flies past Joel Dixon for a Millers' second.

    Crucial. Harsh on Bolton.

  19. League One updates

It's all gone a bit quiet in League One with only one second-half goal so far. There's around 15 minutes left if anyone fancies getting their name up in lights.

  20. Post update

    Rotherham 1-1 Bolton

    Dixon save

Joel Dixon, take a bow. After the smelling salts, that is, because he's just taken one for the team with a desperate block to keep Bolton level.

Rotherham created the opportunity in the box, denying Freddie Ladapo and then pushing away a Rarmani Edmonds-Green chance.

The Millers are throwing shots now.
