They call Viktor Johansson 'The Viking' at Rotherham and he had to be at his best to ensure Bolton didn't plunder a goal from the Millers a moment ago.

Oladapo Afolayan turned a fine delivery into the box which Eoin Doyle cutely directed at goal, but Johansson did well to turn it away.

The Trotters showing they possess a threat too against the high-flying Millers.

  2. League Two updatepublished at 15:23 Greenwich Mean Time 1 January 2022

League Two is the place for goals at the moment as Ashley Nadesan has given Crawley an early advantage against Colchester.

    Forest Green 0-0 Stevenage

Stevenage almost catch Forest Green out at the back, and only the quick-thinking of Luke McGee in the nets denied Chris Lines.

He was well found by Luke Norris, but Rovers avoid going behind in what would be a bit of a turn-up for the books.

    Blackpool 0-0 Hull

Callum Elder's afternoon is over. Hull are forced into a change after he picks up an injury.

    He's replaced by Tyler Smith.

A brief break in play at Blackpool as Callum Elder receives treatment from the Hull physio.

An entertaining opening quarter of an hour or so, so far. But neither side off the mark yet.

    Rotherham 0-0 Bolton

Rotherham really turning the screw now, as defender Michael Ihiekwe is denied by some brave blocking by Adam Senior in the box, after he latched onto a Dan Barlaser ball.

They're into the groove now, and the pressure is building on Bolton.

League One is a bit of a tough one to call from here in terms of who will be the three to go up, but it's important to come out of the Christmas period into January with momentum.

From here on, the season turns into a bit of a marathon and squad depth will really play its part with all the rearranged fixtures too.

Rotherham and Wycombe are two sides who I think will know what they need to do from here from previous recent seasons.

    Forest Green 0-0 Stevenage

Might be a case of rustiness for League Two leaders Forest Green who haven't played in three weeks, but have had plenty of ball against strugglers Stevenage.

Few chances so far, with Jordan Moore-Taylor's header from a Rovers free-kick flying over the bar rather than under it.

The fancy dress may be the only thing keeping the Crewe fans smiling as Harry Chapman has put Burton ahead at the Pirelli.

The remaining games in League One are goalless.

Newport have the honour of scoring the first EFL goal in 2022 courtesy of a Dominic Telford effort away to Walsall.

Sutton took the lead at home to Exeter but have since been pegged back.

Lee Angol has given Bradford an early lead away to Barrow.

    Blackpool 0-0 Hull

It's Hull's time to shine now and, having weathered a Blackpool storm of dominance, they almost take the lead.

Josh Magennis is played through by Richard Smallwood but Blackpool keeper Dan Grimshaw denies him, but George Honeyman tries his luck on the follow-up before Grimshaw eventually puts in a fine save to deny him.

    Frantic!

    Rotherham 0-0 Bolton

After an early scare, Rotherham have started to impose themselves a little now, and are getting closer to troubling Bolton at the back.

Only Declan John's intervention denied Chiedozie Ogbene a chance after a tantalisingly curled Shane Ferguson cross, while Michael Ihiekwe had a headed opportunity from another delivery by the Northern Ireland wing-back just before it.

Blackpool strike again in a dominant start against Hull, but they still have nothing to show for their early efforts.

Keshi Anderson fires wide of the mark having latched onto a ball from Josh Bowler.

Soon after, Anderson tees up Shayne Lavery whose follow-up effort is dealt with by Nathan Baxter.

    Blackpool 0-0 Hull

More promising play from the hosts as they take the game to Hull early on at Bloomfield Road.

Gary Madine tries to get onto the end of a Dujon Sterling cross as Blackpool press, but the ball ends up being claimed by Hull keeper Nathan Baxter.

Going out on New Year's Eve wasn't as much of a thing for players the night before a game in the latter stages of my career.

Earlier on though in my playing time, I'd have to make sure I really disciplined myself as I was really bad at hiding a night out the following day either in training or for a game!

    Blackpool 0-0 Hull

Blackpool win a corner in the early stages against Hull thanks to some good work from Josh Bowler, whose cross is well blocked by the visitors.

The hosts are on the front foot but the corner that follows is dealt with by Hull.

    Rotherham 0-0 Bolton

There's a little bit of pressure on Rotherham to get back on the horse after their Boxing Day defeat by Accrington, plus there's a place at the top of League One up for grabs if they can win at home versus Bolton this afternoon.

Bolton are on a bit of a slide themselves away from home but they've made a bright start, Eoin Doyle just unable to tuck away Elias Kachunga's cut-back in the Millers box.
