Reading face Derby County today without a win in their past five home games in the Championship having drawn two and lost three in that period.

The last time they went six games without a win? Well that came between April and September of 2018 when they were led by former Derby boss Paul Clement.

Derby come into the match having only won their first league match of a calendar year once in the past six years, which came when they beat Barnsley two years ago.

Can the Rams edge closer to getting out of the drop zone at the expense of the Royals, who have not played since 11 December?

  3. Lowe's Lilywhites look to keep up recordpublished at 14:49 Greenwich Mean Time 3 January 2022

    Stoke v Preston (15:00 GMT)

Ryan Lowe travels with his Preston side to face Stoke today with a formidable record to continue.

It is his first away game as North End boss and his predecessors have a decent run of things away from Deepdale in the early stages of their managerial careers.

None of their past five permanent managers have lost their first away league game in charge of the club, a run that stretches back to January of 2010.

Fortunately for Lowe, Stoke have won just two of their past 12 league games against Preston. Will that run come to an end today?

Hello and welcome to the final day of the festive period where no one is entirely sure what day it is.

Having checked my calendar, I am informed that today is in fact a Monday and we should have been absolutely rolling in English Football League action, but recent Covid-enforced postponements have affected today's schedule once more.

We now have just the two Championship games to bring you, as well as a solitary League One fixture.

    Kick-off is coming soon.
